We all obviously want to make the most of our time in class, which means burning the most calories while having the most fun, right? Well, according to science, here’s what exercises we should all be focusing on if our goal is to be a calorie burning machine.
A study recently published in the Journal of Sport and Human Performance shared that fitness methods that engage more muscles and push them longer and harder than other activities are the ones that burn the most calories. Most of us recognize this as high-intensity workouts.
More specifically though, there is a CrossFit workout called the “Cindy” where a person does a series of pull-ups, push-ups and squats in as many rounds as possible. The study found that this burned an average of 13 calories per minute, lasting on average, 20 minutes. Therefore, participants burned an average of 260 calories in total.
These are some pretty huge numbers that kinda squash calories burned from any other form of working out. Definitely something to keep in mind when you’re booking your next class!
