About this class

Pure Empower is a 45-minute barre-based, high intensity, low impact, full body workout that combines strength training with cardio-centric circuits. It uses your own body weight, a 6-inch step-up platform and ankle weights. It is challenging, but modifiable for all levels. They recommend taking Pure Barre Classic at least 2-3 times before taking Pure Empower. Please arrive early to class—you will not be allowed to enter late or leave early. Socks are required (available for purchase at the studio). Wear leggings that cover the knee and bring a water bottle.

How to prepare

Socks are required (available for purchase at the studio). Wear leggings that cover the knee and bring a water bottle. New to the studio? Come at least 10 minutes early to go over the technique and get prepared for class!

Pure Barre Pentagon City is located by the Whole Foods. The studio is on the corner of S. Eads Street and 13th Street South.

Upgraded version of regular pure barre using wrist and ankle weights and a step. It was hard work but fun!

I always love pure barre classes but although this one was good, it wasnt my favorite. The platform prop was a distraction rather than an enhancement to the workout. It just took up space in an already full room. Other than that, it was good, but Ill probably try to stick to the classic pure barre classes.

Great and challenging class. Ankle and wrist weights are added to barre to make it more of a cardio workout. Many Pure Barre studios dont often open these classes to class pass though, so I try to take advantage of them when they do.

Super tough! Would recommend beginners start with the basic class first and/or make sure you have a mirror in front of you to see all the moves since its fast paced.

What is ClassPass?
