This past year has shown just how central fitness and wellness have become in people’s lives. Since 2023, fitness reservations have surged by 51%, while salon and spa reservations have risen by 38%, signaling a growing commitment to self-care and balance. This shift raises the question: are we driven more by lifestyle inspiration on social media, or are we embracing wellness as a cornerstone of modern living?

Either way, ClassPass users are showing up for themselves more than ever, booking over 248 million all-time reservations worldwide as of October 2024. This year’s trend report dives into reservation data from October 2023 to October 2024, highlighting fresh insights and emerging themes to watch for in 2025. Read on to discover what’s been trending, what’s new, and what’s next in the world of wellness.

Fitness and wellness experiences we can’t get enough of

These are the top 10 workouts booked globally this year:

Pilates continued its reign as the most-booked workout globally in 2024, fueled by its strong social media presence and devoted following. This marks the second consecutive year Pilates has claimed the top spot, but with trends constantly evolving, could another workout soon rise to challenge its dominance? Low-impact training, for instance, saw a whopping 109% increase in reservations this year, signaling a growing interest in accessible fitness. With popular classes like strength training, yoga, and cycling also in demand, we’re curious to see which workouts capture the spotlight in 2025.

These are the top 10 wellness appointments booked globally this year:

Once again, massage claimed the top spot as the most-booked salon and spa service globally. With reservations increasing by 39%, it clearly remains central to self-care among ClassPass members. However, emerging trends are beginning to reshape the wellness landscape. New services like body scans, cosmetic treatments, and body sculpting also saw significant growth this year, with reservation volumes rising by 159%, 133%, and 90%, respectively. These newcomers highlight a move toward specialized, results-driven wellness experiences—indicating a shift in what people seek from their wellness services.

The most popular day, month, and time to work out

In 2024, workout times closely aligned with a typical Monday-to-Friday, 9-to-5 schedule. Weekday workouts peaked at 5:30 p.m. as people squeezed in fitness after work, while weekends saw a later start, with 10:00 a.m. as the top choice for getting active.

Tuesday took the lead as the favorite day for working out this year, with Sunday being the top choice amongst ClassPass users for a rest day. For salon and spa appointments, 2024 saw the most bookings on Friday, followed by Saturday—highlighting a trend of tackling workouts during the week and reserving the weekends for a rest and reset.

Back to school, or the gym?

September emerged as the most popular month for booking workouts in 2024, overtaking October, which held the top spot in 2023. However, the most popular day of the year to book a class was October 9th. Between the leaves and seasons changing, there’s a case to be made for fall being the ideal time to change our fitness and wellness routines, too.

Booking trends and habits from around the world

When it came to booking the most classes and appointments on ClassPass, New York Metro came out on top, followed by Los Angeles, London, Amsterdam, and Singapore.

From the cities that booked the most classes over lunch to the cities that booked the most classes period, here are the reservation trends we saw around the world this year:

As Traveling Increases, So Do On-the-Go Reservations

Coinciding with a record year of travel, of the 2+ million ClassPass users who took a fitness class in 2024, 7.7% did so while traveling. Overall, travel reservations appear to be growing in certain regions, with 14% of US users, 8% of UK users, 7% of French users, and 13% of German users booking classes outside their home markets. Could this signal the rise of fitness and wellness tourism? Something to keep an eye on in the following year.

Trends to watch: 2025 and beyond

After a year filled with Pilates, “protein” Diet Coke, and a focus on cortisol management, 2024 has proven that fitness and wellness trends don’t just impact pop culture—they’re also shaped by it. Looking ahead to 2025, we anticipate a shift toward wellness that’s highly personalized and infused with a sense of fun and exploration. This approach will likely include more custom-tailored routines and a focus on enjoyable, sustainable practices that feel less like a regimen and more like a lifestyle.

Move Over Pickleball—New Sports Are Trending

Community-centric activities and team sports are surging in popularity on ClassPass, reflecting broader cultural and athletic trends. Volleyball reservations have skyrocketed by 256% since 2023, and soccer has seen a 158% increase. The most surprising standout? Ice Skating, with a remarkable 698% growth in reservations from 2023 to 2024.

This triple-digit rise in Volleyball, Soccer, and Ice Skating may be fueled by a wave of Olympic excitement, including anticipation for the 2024 Summer Games and the 2026 Winter Olympics, as well as the growing visibility of these sports on social media. This momentum signals a powerful connection between wellness and broader cultural enthusiasm for athleticism and sports overall.

Data Continues to Make Wellness More Personal

The 159% increase in Body Scan reservations this year leads us to believe one thing: more people are seeking out data-backed insights to guide their overall health and wellness practices. As options for wearable health technology continue to expand, will we continue to see salons and spas expand their offerings to include more treatments that utilize data?

Pilates Isn’t Going Anywhere

Already a chart-topper in 2023, Pilates has only increased in popularity this year, largely due to social media influencers showcasing its physical and mental health benefits. Not only was it the most-booked genre on ClassPass in 2024, users who book a Pilates class are most likely to book another Pilates class that week.

Creatures of Habit

Now that ClassPass offers food and beverage options and orders are on the rise, users are finding it easier than ever to make healthy dining choices. When it comes to a varied diet, however, 2024 has shown that people are more likely to order the same thing on repeat instead of pairing it with something new—whether it’s a grain bowl, juice, smoothie, or coffee.

Themed Classes Never Go Out of Style

Between Beyoncé releasing her first country album, Cowboy Carter, and Taylor Swift topping the charts with the release of her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, 2024 was a monumental year for both pop music and female artists.

Swift’s influence extended well beyond the music scene in 2024, with 15,792 ClassPass users reserved a Taylor Swift-themed fitness class this year. Other artists topping the themed class charts included Beyoncé, Rihanna, Drake, and Justin Bieber, proving that music-driven workouts remain as popular as ever. Speaking of popular…
