About this studio

Welcome to Off Road, home to 3 unique workouts: BIKE | BOX | BUILD Off Road is committed to providing real fitness for real people. You will gain strength, endurance, power and your best you. With top-notch instructors, classes are designed to push you to new challenges in each session. BIKE - real cycling with real power. Data-driven Stages bikes give you feedback on how hard you're working. BOX - signature non-stop knockout style boxing circuit. Learn technique, punches & kicks and combinations, as well as defensive moves and footwork. BUILD - fast-paced interval class that combines bodyweight exercises using TRX suspension straps, kettle bells, barbells and resistance bands. Come ready to sweat, to push yourself to new limits - and to have fun!

How to prepare

Clients should come ready to sweat! It is recommended to bring a water bottle to fill up at the studio. They will provide towels and filtered water coolers. And don't worry if you forget your water bottle! They sell them at the studio. If you are taking a boxing class with them, they will provide gloves and you can rent wraps for $5 or buy them for $112. For bike classes please bring sneakers or cycling shoes with SPD cleats. We do not rent shoes (see their FAQ for reasons behind this).

How to get there

Their U Street location is conveniently located one block from the U Street/Cardozo Metro Station at 905 U Street, NW. Their Capitol Hill location is less than one block from the Eastern Market Metro Station at 637 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.

The video at the front was distracting and the rhythm and music didn't really inspire. I liked that you set your own max at the beginning and then work toward that.

Not as much of an intro class as I had hoped, but instructor was encouraging.

Instructor didn’t provide the general plan for the class or say anything about how long intervals would be, which made pacing yourself difficult. I also didn’t find her particularly motivating - I think 90% of the sentences she spoke were “push yourselfff, don’t give uuuupppp” (with that inflection), which got pretty old pretty quickly. I found the workout a little too challenging and receptive on certain muscles for someone who is just starting out strength training, and the instructor offered minimal variations for exercises - honestly was a little concerned I might hurt myself. She also didn’t ask about any injuries, which I’ve had asked to me in almost every exercise class I’ve been to - cardio, strength, toning, etc.

Dani was great and I loved having our personalized charts on the screen so that we could keep up with our own paces.

Did a Tour de France themed ride that was much harder than the typical ride. The music and visuals were also themed accordingly which wasn’t great.

Bring Andrew back! Victor can be downright rude. Gets angry when we aren’t moving into moves fast enough, but literally spends 5 seconds explaining them in between moves.

What is ClassPass?

ClassPass is a new kind of gym membership that grants you access to thousands of different classes at studios and gyms in your city and around the world.

The number of classes you can take and the number of times you can visit a studio per month depends on which plan you're on. You can figure out which plan you're on by going to your Account Settings and looking under 'Your current plan.' With hundreds of studios in our ever-growing network, you're bound to always find a new class to enjoy. When your cycle renews, you can go back and revisit those favorites yet again!
