How to prepare

For health & safety reasons, they require that clients wear socks for class. They recommend "sticky" socks which can be purchased in-studio for $14.

How to get there

Fuel Body Lab Shaw is nestled in Blagden Alley which holds a ton of history; its neighbors include La Colombe Coffee, The Dabney, Wag Time, Long View Gallery, Lost & Found and Tiger Fork. The studio is urban with graffiti-like signage, but chic and warm once inside. ​Google maps shows the studio appearing slightly closer to M street, when in fact it is at the intersection of Blagden Alley and Blagden Alley NW. This class used to be more fun.

Kellys' classes are usually great - but this one was definitely 'off'..very simplified version with minimal arm work. Limited cardio. Ok for beginners.

The instructor didn't demo many of the movements on the barre and gave very few instructions on form.

Great class- challenging but fun. The instructor wasn't great at motivating us but she did a good job keeping us up on the workouts.

You'll definitely feel it the next day! Also, Miriam does a great job of balancing correcting your form and encouraging you if you're new or struggling.

Love this type of barre!! The moves are unique and it's such a good workout!

Really liked the class! Works all parts of the body but isn't TOO hard. Alissa uses a lot of positive reinforcement. This class is good for beginners (like myself), as the moves are doable and the vibe is very non-judgy.
