How To Enjoy Rooftop Yoga While Giving Back

The best way to show off your love for Sydney? A rooftop yoga class benefiting a great cause — and ClassPass is making it happen.

Join your fellow Aussie ClassPassers at an exciting rooftop sunrise yoga event this Thursday, 27 July, at the Glenmore Hotel in the Rocks. Leading Sydney yoga teacher Persia Juliet, or Ms. P as she is affectionately known, will lead a vinyasa flow class overlooking the sunrise on the Sydney CBD. Class will be followed by complimentary breakfast, swag, mini manis and massages, all for an awesome cause — the Rise as One project.

So, what is Rise as One?

An inspiring new initiative, Rise as One is working to connect global yogis in the name of seva, or service. Created by the longest standing yoga educator in Australia, Mark Breadner, the charity is creating an online marketplace which connects yogis, and members of the general community, with non-governmental charity organisations across the world. The aim is to rejuvenate the spirit of others and to provide economic empowerment, supporting all to rise by developing job skills, providing education and creating safe environments where needed.

The ClassPass event is fundraising to support Rise as One’s first partnership with the Bodhichitta Foundation in Nagpur, India. The project is seeking to create a ‘Girls Home’ for vulnerable girls and women which will provide education and job skills to help them rise up and create a better life, escaping child marriage and poverty. They can then go on to become change-makers in their own communities.

How can you get involved?

The sunrise event is free for ClassPass members, simply book through ClassPass (you will not be deducted a class for attending!). Donations can be made at the event or you can help Rise as One’s crowdfunding initiative. If you haven’t joined ClassPass yet you can still book through Eventbrite. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the charity — yes, ALL proceeds.

Did someone say swag?

Not only will attendees be supporting vulnerable girls and women in marginalised communities by getting their flow on with Ms P, ClassPass partners are throwing in goodies! EatFitFood will be providing a delish post-yoges brekkie, Nimble Activewear and Yoga Everywhere will be treating you with goody bags, plus massages by Blys and mini-manis with Vaniday. Now, that’s the best way to spend a Thursday morning!
