    Overthrow Underground Boxing

This was my first boxing class, which I mentioned when I checked in & the studio manager and class instructor, Mike, were both great about giving me instruction. Awesome hip-hop playlist - Mike had us matching our moves with the music tempo. Super sweaty workout with great intensity. Boxing drills mixed w some plyo metrics and ab work at the end. Find a partner who is at your level. I recommend getting to class early because there was a line to get our hands wrapped. Also, be prepared to purchase wraps $10-15. Gloves and mats were still sweaty from previous users, but I'm not a germophobe.

    SHADOWBOX - STANDARD

First time here and think it is now my favorite of all boxing studios in NYC. At the beginning of the class, the instructor showed us how to do different boxing moves before we started on the bags, unlike other studios I have been to. We did 7 rounds, with a cardio break in between bag sessions. Was really tired by the end. No complaints whatsoever

Huge facility, great energy! Gloves have Frye sheets in them which is a huge plus. Free for first time customers but $4+ after that which does feel a little steep. Regardless I will likely be adding this into my regular rotation.

Excellent coach. Ran a well-rounded, intense but manageable class, and gave patient and effective one-on-one instruction to students throughout. Im a lefty, and should fight southpaw, but rarely do bc boxing instructors always teach traditional style and its hard for me to adjust. But Willie took the time to give me specific southpaw instructions during the more detailed combinations. Also I got a better sweat than I have at a boxing class in a long time. The warm up, the core section, the boxing rounds, they were killer, in a room that I suspect was kept hot on purpose. Not a dry brow in the house! One minor somewhat related complaint. The studio gets a bit stinky of feet and other stuff. A little of the powerful air freshener I’ve noticed at other boutique gyms would go a long way here!

Amazing workout, was dripping sweat within the first 20 minutes. Instructor is super friendly and did a great job of mixing cardio and strength. He also taught some true boxing combos which was cool

Love the instructor but even though he’s shouting, it’s still very difficult to hear and see him. I recommend a mic and moving the gold bag to the front and elevating it so everyone can see. Placing it in the middle is generally ideal but the pillar really restricts 3/4 of the class to see him. And since we can’t hear him either, it means half the class is unsure of the sequence. He does come around often to correct form.

Fast-paced and probably not the best for someone who’s never boxed before, but a good workout if you have some experience. Know that it’s not a technical boxing class though!. Love having a short yoga flow and ab series at the end, especially since I’m a fan of a more physical flow after intense work.

3pm summer Friday has been making my summer so much brighter! :) I am always so impressed in how much pride Vinny take in his work, he is always fixing up the studio or working on something to make CKO even better. Always a great class with a nice fix of ClassPass and regular clients. I am always drenched w sweat at the end of class and come out feeling stronger and more knowledgeable about boxing throws & kicks. Love it!

This boxing class is very legit and a great bargain on ClassPass. I did notice John wrapped several student’s hands, which they don’t do at a lot of boxing places, so points for individualized attention. The space isn’t huge, but is perfectly sized to accommodate twelve people. I liked how he referred to the punches by number versus name. The only drawback was that there was no stretch at the conclusion of class. However, that’s easily remedied at home, or they have open floor space to stretch as well.

    Melt

This class is an amazing find! Denise is a great MELT instructor—knowledgeable, thorough, caring. I have no idea how MELT works, but it’s an incredibly powerful tool for fixing body imbalances. After taking the class yesterday, I slept through the night without any of the painful knee locking that’s mysteriously popped up lately. It’s hard to find MELT sessions in NYC, so I’m grateful that BeFit is offering this one on ClassPass.

Great workout with a balance of interesting combos and short sets of strengthening exercises. Over the 2.5 years that Ive been taking this class weekly, Ive gradually built a solid foundation of strength and balance thats lets me do the sets fluidly and really enjoying the whole session. Its one of the few classes Ive taken thats sustained that kind of progress, and in the end, I keep going back because nothing beats training with Joseph.

Amazing! Learned how to punch and kick and block. I expected this to be mostly theory but it was cool to get plenty of practice with lots of hands on attention. There was mitt work and bag work. Sometimes martial arts studios can be intimidating, but Master Jojo and everyone else were so welcoming and friendly. Got a great workout. Really fun and very useful.

Such a good Saturday workout. Instead of running we played flip the pizza which was such a good interactive class activity. The burpees weren’t very fun but that just makes you wanna keep the pizza safe ! We did some fun new moves in class and now I have some victoriously bruised elbows ???? Love Shannyn's class. She an excellent and attentive teacher, and her classes are challenging - thus "advanced". I work with kettlebells pretty regularly and always find her class to be both helpful in my training and encouraging. Her playlists also are so flippin' good. Anyone complaining should go back to barre class and cheesy dance tunes cause you took a wrong turn somewhere.
