    WeFlowHard Vinyasa Yoga

Sarah’s class was the toughest class I’ve very taken at Y7 (both around NYC and in LA). She had awesome, unique flow sequences and challenging modifications for advanced students. I appreciated her fast pace even during the “down time” in between flows. It felt like not a minute of class was wasted. I hope to find her on the UES schedule more often. Can’t wait to take a class with her again!

    Exhale Barre

The ONLY exhale instructor I’ll take anymore, especially now that these classes cost a Whooping 12 credits, and the level of challenge has drastically dropped to almost a basic level, now catered to unfit, out of shape ppl. Prepare to work in his class. Alex is non stop, wasting zero time in the full hour - we covered 4 thigh positions including a glute intermission, then a set of glute work at both the barre + floor, topped off with 2 sets plank work, rather lengthy flat back + round back core sets, adding to the opening arm work that included 14 movements. Awesomely Killer

    Exhale Barre

This was my first core fusion barre class and experience at Exhale - both were top-notch. Class was challenging but leaves you feeling strong. Kat is awesome and gives you lots of personal attention and correction to form. Will definitely be back.

Somatics - Release Muscles & Pain

Loved this class! Its great for people in pain or who just want to learn how to move their bodies in a healthier, easier way. You can tell the teacher really cares and wants to help each student. Its not a workout class - more stretching and slow movements.

    Vinyasa All Levels

Great, genuinely "all levels" class. The instructor focused a lot on muscle awareness and alignment and started with the fundamentals, but quickly worked towards more advanced poses. I also really appreciated that he made a point of remembering names.

    Figure 4 Barre (Open)

Fantastic energy, great commentary. I had such a nightmare getting to the class, but all that was quickly forgotten, sweated and groaned out in this exhausting but satisfying and positive class where the focus is on you. Christina even vocalized the sound muscles make to make her point about subtleties of form - loved it!

    Hot Vinyasa Basics

Dana put together really great sequences for gently opening up the body and stimulating circulation. Really appreciated her encouraging energy and inspiring words at the beginning of class. Also loved that the studio has lots of windows that let in great natural light and found the scent of eucalyptus in the air refreshing. Front desk could’ve been warmer and more welcoming, but I guess even yogis need a day off from letting their inner light of love shine.

    Power Vinyasa PM - HOT

Can't say enough amazing things about Victor. Be prepared to absolutely work though, the flows are fast and challenging. The music is amazing and not your traditional yoga music. (You can do anything when an acoustic, upbeat cover a 90s classic comes on). Wish he fought more at Earth !

    Hot Vinyasa I/II

This was a great class-- there was only one other student today, so we got lots of thoughtful support and guidance from Aby, who was very warm and knowledgeable. (I've found that, in general, the instructors at Five Pillars do more teaching and provide more personalized support than others.) The studio was bright, clean, relaxing, and just the right temperature.

Great workout made even more challenging by compressing it into 25 minutes, which meant muscle-burning, back-to-back sets. As a bonus, it was fun working out with a former elite football player. Rob gave the class awesome energy and a nice sense of humor.

Absolutely wonderful if I could give 10 stars I would! Shell is an incredible instructor and the class flew by. She inspires mindfulness through each of the poses and tranquility through movements. You get such a great workout and are able to fully reset your mind to tackle the day ahead. So so wonderful. Wonderful class, wish I could wakeup each morning with this class.. hint, hint to the studio ;). Instructor was lovely as well. The only thing I would change is music that's morw relaxing, found it a little distracting in the first half of class but otherwise, loved this class, thanks!

    Vinyasa Flow 2-3 w/ Music

This was a surprisingly small, intimate class for Yogaworks, so the instructor was able to give more personalized attention. We covered some more advanced twists, binds, and arm balances than I'm used to seeing in group classes, but in a way that wasn't intimidating if you weren't quite there yet.

    Heated Sunrise Vinyasa

The instructor was lovely, and I was very relaxed. She provided hands-on correction, and was open to personal modifications. The class overlooked a beautiful tree lined street, I got to watch the sun rise up, and they provided water as a courtesy. I will be back to check out other classes.

Only critique is that the studio should put some shades up on the window. During downward dog or any pose where your head faces back of the room, your staring at bright sunlight pouring in. Not the easiest on the eyes. Class itself was great though.

    Hatha Yoga

I’m giving 5 stars because I love the idea of outdoor yoga in the park and want these folks to continue and thrive, but I do have some suggestions for improving the class. First, the teacher should have a sign or some kind of marker to help people locate the class amid the hundreds of people milling around the meeting place. And the class should remain at the meeting place until 5 min before class, rather than walking off at 15 min before class to a remote part of Sheep’s Meadow. I arrived 12 min prior to class and couldn’t find anyone until class actually started and I saw a distant group in downward dog. During class, the teacher was hard to hear and seemed self-conscious about raising her voice over the sounds of the park. During transitions, it would be helpful if the teacher announced the names of the poses first, so experienced yogis can keep to a smooth flow, rather than going into detailed positioning for each limb for beginners and only later stating “warrior 2”.
