Melody is an amazing instructor. I was nervous about taking this class because I have some injuries but she have great modifications and gave options. the flows were optional and the flow of the class was perfect for me.

    Power Flow

Alice is awesome, and it was a hard class in the best way! Unfortunately.... My friend and I were both thrown off by a male trainee sitting at the back of class watching us, then clicking his pen and flipping through his notebook during Shavasana! None of the female attendees were asked if we would be ok with a man watching us doing down dogs and fold-overs from behind, and Alice wasn’t even notified of his attendance! New York Yoga, you should know better!

    H.I.I.T. the Deck!

I was the only person in the class for the day, and the instructor was great about correcting my form to make sure I was doing everything properly. It was a great workout and really hard. You will definitely get a great sweat! Each card suit was a different exercise - 2 lower body and 2 upper body. The number on the card was the number of reps. The instructor pulls 4 cards each round, one from each suit. I didn’t make it through the whole deck by myself but I got pretty far.

Candlelit Restorative Yoga - All Levels

Joelle is one of my favs - she always checks in before starting the class and reads the energy of the room during class and makes adjustments. I really love the grounding in the beginning, movement and flow in the middle and restorative poses at the end of class - perfect combo for candlelight class

Sarah’s class was the toughest class I’ve very taken at Y7 (both around NYC and in LA). She had awesome, unique flow sequences and challenging modifications for advanced students. I appreciated her fast pace even during the “down time” in between flows. It felt like not a minute of class was wasted. I hope to find her on the UES schedule more often. Can’t wait to take a class with her again!

The instructor is no nonsense and delivers a total body workout. He corrects your form so that you feel the proper muscles and make the most of your time there! I'm glad I went. Upper body lower body core abs even back body was worked. Did not sweat profusely but definitely got my heart rate up

    Hot Vinyasa All Levels

Julie is wonderful, her energy was welcoming and a little sassy (which I love) and her class was challenging and fun! The mat/towel rental situation is not acceptable for a hot yoga class: $4 gets you a plain yoga mat and a crappy white gym towel that digs into your hands like gravel and bunches up under your feet at the slightest of movements. So...bring your own stuff!

    Figure 4 Barre (Open)

She is the best instructor there hands down. Fortunately most the instructors are good. The Class was small today due to a holiday weekend and the energy she possessed was excellent for just five students. She cared about every student their form and making sure it was a hard and challenging class. I always feel like I get my moneys worth and leave feeling like I got an incredible work out. Not to mention this is the nicest bar studio with incredible locker room showers and service.

    Power Vinyasa PM - HOT

Claudia was great instructor! Really easy going vibes but led us through an awesome flow. Definitely a fast paced flow, but I really felt like I had a good workout. The studio itself is clean, but a bit cramped. The locker room is teeny tiny, barely 4 people can be in there at a time, and there are no lockers or cubbies to store your stuff. There is also a Tae Kwon Do/Karate studio downstairs which made the floors and walls rattle a ton, making it a bit hard to concentrate during the practice.

Maritza is energetic and energizing, very friendly. She keeps the atmosphere upbeat while paying attention to form and posture. I also liked how she organized the class with a variety of exercises- strength training, then cardio, then stations. I appreciated that there was no pressure to go at a certain pace at each station- everything was set for one minute so that you didn’t feel the pressure of knowing your partner was waiting for you in a plank for example. I’ll definitely be back!

    Iyengar Yoga 1

Deidra is a fantastic teacher. The class is challenging because she is particular at alignment, as she should be - that is part of the point of Iyengar - and sometimes the class gets a little held up because participants don’t understand what she is telling them. I wish that a few people didn’t slow the class down. Otherwise, love it!

    BDC Fit: Pilates Mat

Great especially for beginners! I’ve been doing classical may pretty regularly for about six months but jumped into a class doesn’t really deconstruct each exercise as you go. I know the classical sequence now, but this class was a great opportunity for thinking about the smaller range of exercises that Julia focused on, and learning the transitions that I usually fumble through in my regular class.

I’m giving 5 stars because I love the idea of outdoor yoga in the park and want these folks to continue and thrive, but I do have some suggestions for improving the class. First, the teacher should have a sign or some kind of marker to help people locate the class amid the hundreds of people milling around the meeting place. And the class should remain at the meeting place until 5 min before class, rather than walking off at 15 min before class to a remote part of Sheep’s Meadow. I arrived 12 min prior to class and couldn’t find anyone until class actually started and I saw a distant group in downward dog. During class, the teacher was hard to hear and seemed self-conscious about raising her voice over the sounds of the park. During transitions, it would be helpful if the teacher announced the names of the poses first, so experienced yogis can keep to a smooth flow, rather than going into detailed positioning for each limb for beginners and only later stating “warrior 2”.
