    NOHO

My first time doing an F45 class so I wasn’t sure what the space set up would be like. Had a great workout with today’s “hybrid” style class of cardio and strength training — I was dripping sweat halfway through class! I arrived 15 minutes early for first timer check in and didn’t realize that classes are back to back so the previous class was still cooling down when I got there. There is no front desk so I stood to the side of the entrance stairs for a while waiting for a first timer set up with a coach. I noticed people checking themselves in on a tablet so I checked myself in then with 10 minutes to go before class started I walked over to the coaches and introduced myself as a first timer needing help getting set up for class. I signed an electronic waiver and they explained the class format. There are several large monitors that are on a continuous loop video demonstrating each of the 18 movements of the circuit. I realize that they wouldn’t have known that I was the first timer but it did make it confusing at first not knowing who/where to check in with. The workout itself was a great full body workout! The music is loud so if you needed individual instruction on form I imagine it could possibly be difficult or distracting to hear the coach try to instruct you but they were more than happy to help answer my questions on certain movements or provide corrections during the workout. I definitely look forward to trying out more classes soon!

    Hyrox

I never did a Hyrox workout before so I looked at YouTube. This class isn’t quite hyrox - it was 8 stations set up as intervals of 1:15 min on/ 20s off, repeat 8 times. The real hyrox isnt intervals, it’s just straight through. But this format kept it accessible for everyone, so that was nice. Instructor had so much energy. He was awesome and kept us going. Great playlist too. Throwback to all my fav college bangers for this elder millennial.

    YS - Yoga Sculpt

Erin was great, I've done yoga sculpt at this studio before and I would definitely take this class again. Her version was EXTREMELY fast-paced and challenging, I like that we got some much needed ab exercises too. The only thing is that parts of it were maybe just TOO fast, if her speed was at 100 I would say just turn down to 90 so we can really feel the movements more as it was really heavy on the cardio Moreno than the yoga component. Other than that, loved it!

Honestly adored this class! Definitely a strong sense of community with me being the only newbie and people were friendly and kind. This workout isn’t exactly beginner friendly because of all the different equipment used and the class size is large enough that it’s hard to get a ton of form critique or etc. But the environment is welcoming enough that I think that makes it easy to ask for help if you have questions. That being said because there were so many machines, you could tailor the experience exactly for your strength level and I feel like I got the best workout out of it for me which is awesome!

    Rise & Grind

I don’t think there’s a way for class passers to enter this gym in the morning since the front desk isn’t staffed before 9a, but I just waited outside in the cold until a nice member let me in. Then, I had no clue where to go. But I saw the instructor walk in (I saw his picture with name on the wall so knew it was him) and followed. The room for rise and grind is to the left. The gym is basic. The actual class was good. We did 4 x 10 of shoulder press & lateral raise, then 4x10 of RDL & rows, then squats & overhead triceps and core. I could have done a similar workout as open gym but really did appreciate the instructor’s personal attention and feedback. He called the group out a bit on the core section and made us repeat some reps - I love that kind of accountability and thought it pushed me harder, but I’ve read enough ClassPass reviews to know some people get really sensitive with that.

As a beginner, I would totally book this again! (I had never stepped foot in a cycling class before today)***I definitely was nervous to book after reading some reviews… but idk what some of these people are complaining about. I felt nothing but positive energy and encouragement from not just the instructor but all the members who attended. (Members said hello and even asked what I thought at the end- love a supportive/welcoming community). It’s easy to feel embarrassed for not knowing all the positions/leans, but I was never shamed for it! I was set up for success. I got to sit behind a few people who were regulars and it helped a lot! As long as you’re truly trying you’re best to keep up and make the most of your experience- there won’t be conflict. She’s there to motivate and I was! Thanks for a great class!
