see all reviewsI would say Barrys are great classes for already athletic individuals who know about weight lifting form, not beginners. I didn’t see much form checking or corrections/modifications and it was definitely fast paced. As someone who exercises regularly, I really did enjoy the class and found it challenging!

see all reviewsThis was my first time at Elevate and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I felt like Jamel was paying attention to my form (which so many HIIT instructors do not) and encouraged me to do more when he (accurately) detected I wasn’t pushing myself as hard as I could have.

see all reviewsGood class - instructor was very lively! It was sort of confusing at first and with so many people, asking for help or modification was difficult. But if you generally know what you’re doing, it’s not too bad. Solid HIIT class, much like Orangetheory.

see all reviewsJasmine rocks! She’s super motivating. The perfect way to kick off Monday! Also have noticed that instructors are now giving options for sprinting lengths (60, 45, 30 seconds) and I love that. Sometimes 60 seconds is too much and I like still feeling like a boss for just doing 30 :)

see all reviewsI loved, LOVED this class! It was my first time and Myke has great energy, learns your name, and helps you with your form. I workout a decent bit however I love when someone helps with your form and you don’t always get that at other classes. Will definitely be back!

see all reviewsYour first class is a benchmark for following classes- it can be hard to know how to push yourself without the numerical ranges that are there for later classes. I still enjoyed the class, just thought people should know! It was also a leg day for the strength segment, it would have been good to know that in advance. I got a good workout, and really enjoyed Sherry’s program.

see all reviewsBrian was amazing and so attentive to my being a first timer. Cant recommend him enough and the class was the arm burner I was hoping for. I wasnt sure if this would be too advanced but Id say if you have some basic TRX and kettlebell experience its totally fine, there was a good mix here. Loved how we alternated between each move. My only reservation was that there were some barefoot people with their feet on the TRX in the class before and nothing was wiped down between our classes. Theres no reason for bare feet in this place. But Ill be back wiping everything down beforehand

see all reviewsThe class was very accessible with a pace and offering of options for me to explore where I was or needed to be in each pose. Jules was encouraging and talked a bit - often said what I was thinking about how a pose felt. She also offered me some insights on how to work my neck - positioning my shoulders using a wall or where to place my hands so that I can slowly improve my mobility.

Loved doing heavy weights. The boxing portion isn’t great if you have never boxed. Not great explanation. I’d say if you are new to boxing they should give you a better explanation. First class go for the white or teal. I love their merch as well.

see all reviewsThis was a great class. Lauren (and a support team member) gave excellent form correction throughout class to make it feel like a private class in a group training setting. This was a durability day—80% efforts—so it was a grind but a good sweat. There are 5 stations that you complete with heavy weights and there are a few different levels of weight difficulty which makes you able to tailor your workout for your level. Will be back! Would like to be able to see which type of class I will be doing (M.A. or D.) before class if possible.

see all reviewsInstructor and class were great (your music is great so turn it up!). The Georgetown CPY studio staff were very friendly, but the studio itself was not very clean. In-Person Bootcamp
see all reviewsI love everything about this gym. I am trying to get back into better shape after two years of rarely exercising (pandemic woes) and this is the perfect place. TRAINERS: I think I’ve trained with nearly all of the trainers at this point and they’re all top-notch and everything you’d (or, at least I) want in a trainer— pushes me to work my hardest, encouraging, knowledgeable, willing to make corrections (I’ve experienced far too many gyms that may demonstrate proper form, but barely pay attention to the participants and don’t really correct form). THE WORKOUT: It’s typically some form of a circuit and is what you’d expect in a boot camp type class— some cardio, some strength, some weight, some body weight, some abs, etc. FITNESS LEVEL: This is truly for all fitness levels. Despite years of training previously, my lack of exercise during the pandemic has put me back to “beginner status.” The trainers will modify absolutely everything… and if you need to modify something, this isn’t one of those gyms where you’ll be the odd person out… the participants are of all ages and ability levels, so there’s usually at least a couple people that may need a modification of some form and it’s really no big deal. THE PEOPLE: Both the staff and other participants are super friendly. There classes are full of “regulars,” but don’t let that discourage you— they are absolutely open to meeting new people, befriending you, and carrying on conversation… and converting you to a “regular” too. Actually, put another way, if you like a gym class where you’re just a number and can get lost in the crowd, this probably isn’t the place for you. Everyone from the gym’s manager to all the trainers in the gym to the participants are all genuinely interested in getting to know you. FINAL THOUGHTS: If you’re in doubt, I’d really encourage you to give it a try!
