How it works

About this class

Restorative yoga focuses on relaxing the body, gently stretching, and breathing. The postures, which are taught using yoga props like bolsters, blankets, blocks and straps, allow you to feel supported and comfortable. This class can provide the body an opportunity to rest, renew and heal. The postures allow the mind to slow down and come into a calm state. All are welcome in this class. Yin yoga targets the deep connective tissues of the body (vs. the superficial tissues) and the fascia that covers the body. Yin Yoga postures are more passive postures, mainly on the floor. You are asked to relax in the posture, soften the muscle and move closer to the bone. Postures are often held for three to five minutes, even 20 minutes at a time. The time spent in these postures is much like time spent in meditation. All levels are welcome.

Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in. Bring a yoga mat if you have one (or use ours free of charge) and a water bottle if you need one. Yoga is done in bare feet, but you can wear socks if you'd like.

How to get there

We're located in a motel-like building on the east side of York St. Drive through the entryway in the center and enter a fairly large parking lot. We're located on the 2nd floor.
