When I created ClassPass (which first started as Classtivity for all of you who have been around from the beginning!) – I knew that there had to be an easier way to keep moving even with a busy schedule. What I didn’t know was just how inspired I would become from all of the adventurous, strong and awesome things that all of our ClassPass members do every single day. As a lifelong dancer, I know what motivation and dedication it takes to stay active and healthy, and I want to thank all of you for reminding me of that constantly.

One of my goals for ClassPass is to not only encourage you to take classes, but to also bring happiness to your lifestyle, too. When you’re busy with work, balancing friendships and relationships and taking rest days (they’re important!) – it can be overwhelming at times. So once a month, I’ll share something I’ve learned, something to keep you excited or to bring you encouragement in my new column.

First up, in honor of my 32nd birthday – I want to share 32 important life lessons I’ve learned as a woman, as a friend, as an entrepreneur, and of course, as a dancer.

It’s never too late to face your fears.
I swam with dolphins in Mexico a week ago – and I’m scared of the water and most animals. But you know what? It was awesome.

The grass is always greener.
So learn to love your own lawn.Payal_1

Most relationships – love or otherwise- can be improved with an open-mind.
And lots of communication. Speak your truth.

You need to take care of your body.
Every single day.

Change is inevitable.
So be flexible and learn to adapt – fast!

Height and size means nothing.
I’m not even 5’0” (seriously!) and it’s never stopped me from doing anything.

Good luck comes from good (and hard) work.
So set your mind to it and watch the results.

You are the gatekeeper to your thoughts.
Feel free to turn some of them away.

How you spend your time is your own choice.
Spend it wisely.

Your core is important
From your body to how you build a team.

People can- and will- change your life
Thank you to all my amazing advisors and investors who inspired and believed in me!

Seek out the opportunities you want in your life.
And surround yourself with people who lift you higher (thanks, Oprah!)

I was always loved.
I didn’t need to find love to be loved- I already was!

Don’t take sleep for granted.
It’s necessary to run on full energy!

Approach everything with your full heart.
It’s the only way to become your best self.

Life (and a startup) is a marathon, not a sprint.
Build in balance. Remember to breathe.

People are different (and that’s okay).
You have to learn to work, live and communicate with all different types of people.

Your parents will get older.
So cherish your time with them, don’t rush it.

All relationships go through phases.
The strongest ones last through them all.

It’s okay to feel!
Listening to that inner voice and having emotions is the best way to find your best life. Trust me.

You must do things that make you happy.
And fight for them- even if it’s just being able to go to class!

Taking a break is important.
It’s something I still struggle with, but I know it’s important (Thank you Scandal for helping me unwind!).

Most constraints we think exist, don’t.
Break through them

The best things can’t be planned.
Dare to be spontaneous!

Your body is so powerful.
And capable of more than you think.

If it doesn’t feel right, it’s probably not.
Trust your gut.

When one door slams shut, another one is wide open.
Be brave enough to walk (or dance) through it- that’s how ClassPass started!

Payal_2Don’t discount your weak moments.
They’re what prove to be your strongest later in life.

Remember to celebrate!
Things in your own life, your friends, your family, everything.

What you believe will happen is what happens.
The universe is on your side, if you let it.

Claim your talents.
I’m an artist, and maybe everyone really is. It took me a while to say that to myself.

The show always goes on.
So keep moving.
