About this studio

KG Strong is one of the only female owned strength studios in Philadelphia. Located in the famous BOK building in South Philly, it is home to some of Philadelphia's top Kettlebell Instructors and strength coaches. Offering private training, small group training, and open group classes in Kettlebells, Yoga, Core strength and more, there is something for everyone. Its small group training program is a terrific alternative to private training. It is an affordable way to get personalized strength training instruction, while also benefitting from the support and encouragement of a group. Open classes include Yoga, Core Strong and Bodyweight Bootcamp. These classes are open to all levels and are recommended as a compliment to a regular resistance training program.

How to prepare

For first time students, please arrive early to discuss any physical limitations or medical considerations and to sign a liability waiver. If you are unsure whether a small group or class is appropriate for you, please email the owner, Katie Gould at katie@katiegouldstrong.com. KG Strong highly recommends coming in for a complimentary 30-minute movement assessment before beginning a strength training program. Contact the owner to schedule your session.

How to get there

To get to KG Strong, go to the 9th street entrance of the BOK Building located at 1901 south 9th st. Use the call box to call room 206 B, KG Strong and you will be buzzed in. The studio is located on the second floor of to the right of the staircase above the boys gym.

Julie was super friendly and helpful especially since I don't have much kettlebell experience. GREAT workout and class size, definitely will be coming back!

I had difficulty getting into the building. Calls up went unanswered. Instructor seemed distracted. Wasn't able to really demonstrate many of the workouts. Didn't really feel like my form was right, but it went uncorrected. Also, the class itself wasn't particularly challenging, but I still managed to leave with an achy lower back (not my intention). Don't get me wrong... it was fun, and I was sweating by the end! The instructor and other regulars were amiable, too. Worth the visit to try it out, but I don't think I'll go back.

Katie's class is challenging and really fun. She's a great trainer and has taught me so much not only about kettle bell workouts (I knew nothing before her) but fitness in general. Her small class format allows you to get personal attention and she's very aware of ensuring you get a great workout while never hurting yourself - the correct form matters. I would definitely recommend her class if you're looking for a personal and motivating class.

It started a little slow which I wasnt sure about but then all of the elements started coming together! We did a cycle circuit at the end which I didnt enjoy at all! Cherie was a really good instructor, knowledgable and good at teaching the elements.

This class is fun, informative, and challenging! Katie has such a talent for giving clear and specific instructions on functional movement. She not only sets her students up to perform the exercises correctly and safely, but in the small group setting she is able to give personalized adjustments as needed. Im always sore (in a good way!) after this class and feel that Im getting stronger each time. Katie does a great job of connecting with her students and creating a positive vibe for the whole class! I highly recommend!
