I've been to the studio many times but this was my first with Scott. He was clear with instructions. One thing I really liked is that he did not talk too much while we where running. He did it so we could stayed focused on our form and pace without distractions. I will definitely go back to his class.

    Switch Playground Class

It was my first class with Ethan and he has really great energy, and speaks with purpose. When he gave instruction and motivation, it didn’t feel excessive or corny like with other male instructors at the playground - it felt genuine like he really wanted us to succeed. There were some new assistant trainers that were really great and motivating also. I’d definitely go back to a class with Ethan hoping it was also the same combo of assistant trainers.

    BFX Burn

Nice large clean studio. Now called NYSC with BFX and Cyc within it. 2nd desk for BFX check-in. There is also a gym downstairs with minimal equipment. There are nice locker room amenities with showers dryers towels water fountain. The burn class is set up like HIIT/Tabata. Not too much advice on weight selection other than a heavy and medium kettle bell and dumbbell (nice ones covered with rubber). Room is set up with a small mat and gliders for each person. There are several sets of timed jumping jacks/ mountain climbers / burpees/ etc with weight lifting mixed in. Good workout. Not the hardest if you are familiar with this type of work out. Probably hard but doable for a beginner. Lots of modifications offered for less athletic people / as you get tired.

Great class - challenging full body workout with a blend of strength and cardio that will definitely leave you sore the next day. Daury and Jess were an energetic, knowledgeable and entertaining team! Facilities are in really good condition. I do agree there's a lot of downtime when they explain each exercise but they still fit a LOT in 50 minutes and I might die if there was more...! Such good music too.

Hot damn, class was brutal tonight! 8 mins at each station with the same buy in + cash out move sandwiching a 6 min EMOM of another move: Run .2, 20 KB Swings / Row 12-18 cals, 10 erg knee tucks with 5 air squats / 20 wall balls, 4 man makers into clean, squat + press / 15 bike cals, 8-10 burpees. I generally don’t enjoy EMOMs Bc the goal count always seems to be too low + so I feel like I’m standing around doing nothing during class, but the given goals were on point. Love taking class here bc you never know what you’re walking into with the ever changing movements + profile breakdowns, but I always feel gassed when leaving.

Justin was awesome and really welcoming as it was my first class there! This class is TOUGH-you will be so tired by the last round of treadmill and floor weight work. This class is not for the faint of heart. You do about 8 mins on the treadmill, then 8 mins on the floor, alternating for 4 rounds-and each round is different. The classpass description says it's a 50 minute class, but it's actually 1 FULL hour long. They do not stop a minute early-so be prepared for that. I would go back again for sure! I also like that the instructor doesn't push you to make your running speed higher. They give you a range, and don't bother you, but encourage you to listen to whatever your body is feeling-and go with that. It's a great, intense workout!

Everything other reviewers say it is. If you do high intensity cardio 2-3 times a week, though, you will definitely get through that warm-up. Only downside is there isn't enough emphasis on form for a "beginners" class (but we all know it's not really that, don't we). If you're new to this type of training like I am, it would be helpful to look up some of the moves online ahead of time.

Michael ran the Barry’s class I’ve been to yet—inspiring vibe, challenging yet accessible sets, and great music which helped lighten the atmosphere as he occasionally sang along for a few bars. Most of all, the class felt good-hearted and kind in a way that I haven’t experienced at Barry’s, where instructors often put a on a hard edge and the whole format and operation can feel like a very commercial, impersonal injury factory. If you’re on the fence about Barry’s, I highly recommend going to Michael’s class.

Class was good, instructor was great—paid REALLY good attention to form, even in a full class. Only downside was the shower area—3 showers is sort of standard in the area, but there wasn’t enough room outside of them for the number of women who were getting dressed and doing their makeup. Other than that, solid circuit class.

As a regular Tuesday night class goer, I have to say that this may have been the toughest class Ken has ever given us. Basic but hard as all hell. After the typical warmup in the studio then a farmers carry to Madison Ave plus a non stop 6 min ab series, the workout was 7 rounds of the following : 20 American KB swings, 15 air squats & 5 burpees before a sprint to Madison & back to be done as fast as possible. Most clocked in at ~2 mins so there was a minute rest before the next round. First time I've seen ppl splayed out all over the fitness floor once we finished.

The format was surprisingly similar to the Fhitting room except theres more rest time. I think Fhittjng room is like 1 min of exercise with 10 seconds of rest whereas here is like 40 seconds of exercise with 20 seconds of rest, which is the optimal HIIT ratio. Despite the longer rest, I still got a challenging workout. I like how you alternate between cardio and strength stations: the strength becomes harder when youre out of breath from the cardio, but you do have time to catch your breath before moving onto the next station. We ended with a cardio finisher and stretch. I like the space better than the Fhitting room because its a lot bigger and thus theres more stations and also some of the exercises here cannot be found at Fhitting room (e.g. agility ladders). You go at your own pace but Bethany is very encouraging. Im coming back to try more classes. I wish there werent as many people today, maybe we couldve utilized the space more and done some sled pulls or something.

My first time. Class wasnt as hard as I thought it was going to be, mean the dance moves werent that hard to follow but the cardio wasnt as intense as I had hoped. For the full body class, the cardio portions were interspersed with strengthening segments on par with a barre class. Overall the class was actually really fun and I look forward to returning for a full dance cardio class. Celine was great. Tonights class was Tabata style: 8 stations total, 20 seconds of work, 10 seconds of rest, done for 8 rounds at each station, alternating between 2 workouts so that each exercise is done 4 times per station. Stations tonight consisted of: Ski erg & squat thrusters, Sit ups& push ups, Squat jumps & TRX row, Battle ropes & planks, KB swings & sit ups, Jump rope & burpees, Rower & Jacobs ladder, Dead lifts & pull ups.

Its a little scary at first to jump on the trampoline but the class starts out slow and steady so that you can get a hang of it before jumping into more advanced moves. With a variety of weights and resistance bands available, the results you get out of this class is really equal to the amount of effort you put in. The instructor was friendly and energetic throughout the whole session. All in all, it was a fun class.

    Intermediate Level Semi Private Class

I thought this workout was great! Since its a new gym I was the only one in class and therefore got a personal training session which is awesome. Tony was also a really good trainer. He was encouraging and really focused on form to make sure all exercises were done properly. I havent done a workout like this before that was all resistant bands working on a lot of core and balance but I loved it.

    PT6

Our class had fewer people so we only had 5 stations with 2 people at each station. Normally it seems to be 6 stations. Each station was 6 minutes long and Victoria did a great job in showing us the moves and coming around to correct everyone. Cardio was light but there were still some. Our class really focused on upper body but other instructors may be different. This is definitely for strengthening and I feel sore today!

For all the people who miss step classes! The class is hiit plus step. They use a small square step with heavy and light set of weights. Class is modifiable for all levels. Less steps, less heavy weights, teacher gave lots of modifiers for newbies. Non stop timed intervals with fun music. There seemed to be a lot of regulars from limelight / equinox days. Studio is new with padded floors and fun changing backlights. There is a gym in the front for private clients. Filtered fountain, shower, changing areas, combo locks with chargers inside. Will definitely be back with friends!

    ICE Cycle

Not for the faint hearted. A full class (8) this time. Combination of cycling on this hardcore bike and interspersed with strength movements. Intense - similar to crossfit. It's not really for complete beginners - instructor didn't explain any moves so you should come with some basic weight training knowledge already.

This class is so hard and so fun. It seems impossible, but it’s also laid out in a way that allows you to go at your own pace. And they do such an amazing job of making sure everyone gets help! They pay attention to everyone, not just the experts.

Great workout! Will definitely be back! I’ve taken classes structured like this before but this is one the best ones HIIT classes available on the UES! Emily provided great instruction and made sure everyone’s form was correct to ensure safety. She was very encouraging and provided modifications if needed.

Fun class! It was half strength training and half cardio (this music based movement, like aerobics). The heaviest weights they have are 10 lbs. I really enjoyed it, but if you’re looking for a lifting class, this isn’t really it. Will definitely try other classes here- the trampoline class looked really fun!
