see all reviewsAJ is an amazing breath work guide. Wonderful, enchanting energy. And this studio is beautiful. It would be better if the overhead red lights were completely cut or if they gave eye masks because the light was uncomfortable and distracting, especially when lying on the floor. Overall though, can’t wait to return for another one of AJ’s classes. Id also love to see a meditation with movement class here!!

see all reviewsIf you like yoga, or any kind of body weight workout/mat Pilates, this class is for you. Shannon is an asana architect, seamlessly flowing between poses, creating challenging flows that “marry breath to movement” (her mantra) encouraging that “when sensation becomes pain, cut it out” and giving ample variations so the class can cater to seasoned yogis and baby yogis alike. I can’t recommend this instructor - or her class - enough. And quite honestly, Central Park is the most beautiful shala I’ve had the pleasure of practicing in.

see all reviewsThis is a great studio. Sarah was so nice, enthusiastic. and led a meticulously detailed practice. Her instructions were so detailed it felt like a lecture at times. It’s okay to leave space for students to find their practice. When there is so much detail it leaves little to no room for the practice. A practice requires time and patience to improve and it wont happen in one class.

see all reviewsSoooo…this was not like any other yoga class I have taken in NYC. It was pretty unusual, and I kind of loved it. I took the 90 minute hatha class on Wed night. Only one other person was there so it was kind of like a private yoga class. We started w 30 minutes of “warm up” which felt less like any yoga I have done before and more like Tai Chi. Then we lay down, he covered us w blankets and lit incense and dimmed the lights and he did a relaxation exercise which was awesome. Then we did asanas, but it was relatively scaffolded and he was adjusting each of us and giving us each our own poses to do based on ability. We finished w a few minutes of mediation. It felt like a mini yoga retreat with a guru!

see all reviewsOne of my favorite yoga instructors ever, and an awesome class — I wouldn’t necessarily call it challenging, but I’ve found plenty of non-challenging yoga classes are just 5 minute pigeons — sometimes I’m in the mood for that, but I loved loved loved how this class prioritized restfulness without sacrificing movement and flow. Other things I loved: - free mat rentals; the GORGEOUS atrium; good music; the choices for hands on instruction and for end of class oils; and maybe I was just fortuitous but the instructor was talking about self affirmation in a way that really stuck with me. All so wonderful, big fan, feel stretched and strengthened! Thanks!
