How to prepare

For dance fitness programs, dance sneakers, jazz shoes or supportive shoes are recommended. Ballet slippers, socks or bare feet are best for ballet, barre and contemporary classes. While most classes do not require equipment, mats are provided for classes in which there is a floor work component. Of course, you are also welcome to bring a mat of your own!

The class was great but just a little hard to follow since I do not know Tap dance at all! However, a good workout!

I hadn't tapped in many, many years, but since this was an all levels class I thought I'd remember enough to get through OK. I was able to keep up during the beginning songs, but then we transitioned to steps across the floor, and I was in way over my head. I just couldn't keep up at all with the fast pace of the rest of the class, and I was frustrated and embarrassed. The instructor is lovely and was trying to help me, and no one else in the class seemed to be judging me at all, so I realize it was totally my issue of not being able to just roll with it. If you think you'd have a similar mindset, I recommend taking a handful of beginner classes before jumping into this one. I do think it will be a fun class once I'm comfortable again with the terminology and able to process new step combinations quickly, so I will be back once I get my skill level back up. On a side note, the breaks between songs seemed a bit long, so from that aspect I actually wish the class flowed a bit quicker.
