How to prepare

Come dressed to move. They recommend wearing comfortable clothes. Socks are required for all non-heated classes, and mats are required for all heated classes. Rental mats are available at the studios for a small fee.

Always a good time at this class. Predictable so I know the pattern of class, but always a little different to keep it interesting and fun. Time always flies.

The instructor didn't move around the room to check form and make adjustments which I think is important for barre workouts, especially for beginners to dance/ballet.

Barre Code class was a very good workout. Less stretching and ballet stuff at the bar and more like a total body class that happens to use a bar for some isometric squat/lunge work. Its amazing how some very tiny movements and small weights (2 lb dumbbells??) can completely fatigue a muscle group! Music was good, through nice speaker system. However, space is echoey, and it was almost impossible to just listen to the instructor for prompts because her voice was all muddied with the music/echo. We introduced ourselves as newbies beforehand and got literally zero attention or (needed!) modifications. In fact, this instructor Alison did not interact with anyone or work on positioning etc, even at a point when multiple people were visibly struggling to identify the position they needed to enter. Im very interested to go back, but it will have to be with a different instructor.

This was my third time at this studio and Ive immensely enjoyed it every time. Every Barre Code class focuses on the same four areas (arms, abs, thighs, butt) but with different moves and equipment each time. Its difficult, supportive, and fun.
