The choreo was challenging, but over a 60 minute class, we were given a good amount of breaks to catch our breath before the next climb or sprint. Really wonderful local studio and a great class to drop in on during the holiday break!

see all reviewsDid my first class at Mecka today, body lab with Kaylee , and I didn’t know what to expect being that I usually do my full body work outs at home in my living room lol but the class was awesome!! I found it challenging but also felt totally comfortable slowing down when I needed to. Kaylee was motivating and clear with her instructions. I showed up 15 mins early and she was more than happy to give me an individual run down about the class before she started. I also want to add that I am not a runner at all I was a little intimidated by the treadmill part at first but it wasn’t bad!! There weren’t actual numbers called out for the speed so you were able to do the run/sprint parts at whatever you were comfortable with, and Kaylee was generous with the amount of built in recovery time she gave us too so it made you want to push yourself as much as you could during the hard parts! Overall I totally recommend this class no matter what experience level you’re at. It was challenging enough you could go hard if you wanted but also dark enough in there that you feel comfortable taking it as slow as you need to…. ontop of that, everyone was super nice and friendly and willing to help each other out. it was all around just a good time and a great work out! I am excited to take more classes at Mecka !

PBT is so welcoming of everyone and all types of people. I am out of shape, 35, AuDHD, and struggle with combinations/timing/working memory. Those things have always made me too afraid to try ballet again since college, but I am so glad I did. Adrian is a wonderful teacher. He is so kind and funny. All the staff I have interacted with at PBT has been amazing so far and I am so grateful that this programming exists. The classes are challenging but fun and are a great way to get some movement back into your life.

I saw some negative comments about the music selection which I totally disagree with - I felt like I was able to keep in sync with the beat. I also saw some comments about a lack of breaks, which is technically true, but this class is somewhat “self-paced”, so you’re able to slow down and give yourself a chance to catch a breath, if needed.

I had to look around the room to find a modification for an exercise after it caused me pain. We weren’t told whether to have feet parallel or turned out for a lot of things. I’ve noticed in the last few classes that teachers are cuing overly complicated exercises and sequences that have little payoff and are hard to explain, as opposed to the tried and true Pure Barre standards that deliver consistent results.
