About this studio

Dhyana Yoga is one of Philly's oldest yoga establishments, founded in 2002 by Diana D'Amato-Vitarelli and now co-directed with her husband, John Vitarelli. We like to keep things “Mom & Pop” style and will want to get to know you by name! Dhyana Yoga's backbone is in the traditional Ashtanga lineage, meaning the practice is tailored to the individual even within the group setting, yet challenging, rhythmic, encouraging both strength and flexibility, focused on alignment, and aims to help students progress. Some classes have music others do not. We keep the heat set at 78-80 degrees on average, some classes (marked "heated") could get warmer, as sweat is healthy. Feel free to bring a towel and water. Classes like "Gentle," "Yin," etc are not heated. "Dhyana" means "Meditation" in Sanskrit

How to prepare

We have changing rooms and showers in the restrooms if you need to change at the studio before or after class. Having your own mat is always best but we do rent mats for $2 if you forget yours. It's also nice to bring a mat towel (available for purchase at the studio), and we recommend at least having your own mat towel over any rental mat, here or elsewhere. We do spray our rental mats with a tea tree cleaning solution after each use, so please return used mats to the desk and not into the bins.

How to get there

Dhyana Yoga is conveniently located in Center City, at 1611 Walnut Street. Our studio is on the quiet 4th floor, above American Apparel, next to the Apple store, on the North side of the street. Look for the keypad, call us, and we'll buzz you in. Take the elevator to the 4th floor. The office is to the right when you exit the elevator, please always come by the desk to sign in. If it is your first time to Dhyana Yoga, please fill out a waiver at the desk and if you have any questions at that time, we'll be there to help you.

Brunos classes are the best!
60 Minute Dynamic flow
Solid class. Teacher was great! Non-heated
Northern Liberties Vinyasa
Instructors at Dhyana are amazing at yoga and definitely have pushed my practice. However not enough variations or instruction of prop use of poses for those whose body just isn't there that day or whose practice is still not as advanced.
60 Minute Dynamic flow
Great flow and instruction!

Loved this class so much! Amy was fantastic :)
Candlelit Electro Vinyasa
Coolest class ever! Its slightly challenging but so rewarding. If youre a beginner, you just flow and do your thing but if youre advanced, you can utilize some of the instructors suggestions to take it up a notch; its awesome for all levels. Plus, the people are so nice and welcoming.
Vinyasa and Meditation
This studio is REALLY difficult to find, but once you find it- it's like striking gold. The flow was awesome; it was challenging but relaxing as well. Great for all levels. The entrance is located ON walnut between 16th and 17th. Don't follow the "get directions" option- you'll end up on a random street with a whole bunch of dumpsters. Give yourself a little extra time getting there.
Dynamic Flow
