My one critique (not of just this class but in a lot of the train classes) is the type of abdominal/core exercises that are offered. I don’t find many Sit up variations to be very functional or effective like the clam sit ups we did today. I think more integrated core work like planks, Russian twists with medicine balls, or some Pilates inspired moves are a lot better in terms of building strength, seeing results, and functionality. Integrated core work is also better for people who are pregnant or have given birth in the past year to prevent diastasis recti. Just my two cents. Still a 5 star class!

June had such a kind and upbeat energy about her - when I realized I had overexerted and had to tap out, she made sure I was okay without any judgement. see all reviewsClass kicked my butt! It’s different from the boot camps that I’ve tried in Pasadena. I like how the instructor payed attention to how I do my exercise and corrected me, especially that it was my first time. It’s great that she provided visual and vocal demonstrations for the exercises. I like how the circuits are rep based instead of time based. Rep base are more challenging IMO because with time based exercises, I feel like people use the time to relax instead of repping out the set and moving on to another exercise during later sets because of exhaustion. Worth going again!

The suggestion to bring a large towel or exercise mat could be changed to bring a yoga mat…or borrow one at the studio. You may want a small towel as the workout is a sweaty one. All exercises are done with your own body weight no kettle bells, tires, trx, etc. I think some sessions use resistance bands, but not a lot of gimmicks here just straight up cardio and exercise. The class size was small and Mat was encouraging, offering good adjustment advice throughout, especially when I was floundering near the end :) I’ll be back!
