see all reviewsBlack belt instructor: around 10 students or so. After warming up with guard passing/guard retention related drills, we played a game with two players trying to touch each other’s shoulders and knees. The Professor then taught us a self defence technique when our enemy throws a wild haymaker: you rush in to intercept the arm with both of your arms in front of your face. Afterwards, you immediately swing the opposite side arm into an underhook and go to his side and push him. Next you let go of the remaining frame and insert double underhooks and then clinch him and bend him backwards to take him down in a wrestling style. If that does not work, I put my butt against him and lift him up and take him down in a judo style. In the end, we did positional sparring where the top person needed to maintain side control and the bottom person needed to escape. Because L. Hehan is a 0 degree white belt, he was unable to properly escape his enemy’s side control. L. Hehan prays that as he practices, he shall improve :(

see all reviewsBrazilian? Instructor: Dude was wearing a brazil t-shirt so I assume that is where he was from; 3 students but the big dude was late, so we had a semi-private class for almost half an hour. The professor asked me to do 50 jumping jets, 50 burpees, and 50 push ups as warm up. The teenager did not do them. I reckon it was because he had done the youth class right before this one. I then learned how to pass by enemy’s guard using the Tory Round Doe pass, then go on knee-on-belly. As my enemy tries to push my knee away, i grab his arm and defeat him with an arm bar or key moo ra. Because I am a beginner, I had trouble keeping my balance in the movements. We ended the class with 100 sit ups and one minute plank. Normally I can do 30 secs only, but today there were people doing Muay Thai sparring, which distracted me so I forgot about how hard the plank was, so I wnded up doing the full 60 seconds lol. I pray that as I practice, I will improve ;)

see all reviewsTwo instructors: 7 students. The old Master taught the class, whereas the younger Master assisted. The students were taught ‘look sour’, ‘single doubles’, ‘chi sour’, and straight punch- hook punch-elbow strike combos on pads. Before the partner puts up the pads, we track his/her movement, the same way we would track our enemies. However, as soon as the pads are up, we switch the focus on them, imagining the pads are the enemy’s head and arm. This is to simulate the enemy slipping the head and attacking you, something boxers and wrestlers frequently do. The final challenge was to close eyes whilst the partner circled around and gave ques to attack. Because L. Hehan is old and weak, he was unable to neutralize his enemies’ incoming forces, except the young lady who was half his size lol. L. Hehan prays that as he practices, he shall improve :(

The way most masters teach muay thai is exactly the same as kickboxing. I was unable to see what is the difference between muay thai and kickboxing. However, this Master shows us the traditional thai martial arts which is significantly more in depth than kickboxong. Krabi Krabong looks like FMA’s kalis/arnis/escrima at first glance. However, when look more in detail, they alsp have quite a lot of differences.

see all reviewsFriendly instructor. Maybe a bit too friendly? I felt like the rest times were really long and not just because he was correcting form but because he and the other two girls (who seemed to be regulars) started conversing. But to be fair the class went on for an extra 30 mins as well (on the assumption it was only supposed to be an hour). I would’ve like it more if he corrected during the time you were doing it rather than the breaks. The following has nothing to do with the rating a chose but just something I needed to mention, I’m pretty good at conversational canto but really struggled to understand technical terms and what I can only assume were muscle names and things - so it was a bit hard to follow his corrections - has nothing to do with how I rated since I’m sure many would like the extra tidbits of info but it would have been easier for me if he simpled it down to “hands x width apart” “legs wider” “squeeze your core” and where I should be feeling it rather than trying to understand what he was talking about how because it’s a cable and something you can pull down more instead of shifting your body back (?) honestly I didn’t understand all that much. Space was nice and clean :$ felt inviting.
