Ken is very energetic! Facilities are great - can have shower after workout (shampoo, body wash and hairdryer provided). The only thing to be mindful of is always to come early, otherwise you will end up standing in the very corner of the classroom and being blocked by a pillar. Unable to see the instructor at all. Maybe this could be solved by limiting the number of ppl?

We were 2 people in the class and coach accordingly adjusted it based on our level. The class was intense but still fun as the coach had good humor. His instructions were easy to follow. Muaythai | Weekday | Non-Peak

A very fun experience even for first timers who had zero clue about martial arts. The Coaches would adjust the training intensity (time and reps) depending on the different levels of fitness and experience of class goers (1.5 instructors to 3-4 students in off-peak). Lots of variety in exercises and techniques to provide a progressive circuit, combining movements taught earlier on in the session into a longer series of movements by the end as well as general motor control exercises. Training area would be cleaned immediately after class and there were ample hygiene facilities and lockers. Difficulties in understanding verbal prompts would also be quickly resolved via demonstrations.

Brazilian instructor: 3 students. The Professor taught me how to shoot a double leg to take down my enemy, and when my enemy sprawls to defend it, I change to single leg and switch my hips and then either put pressure on my shoulder to force my enemy into sidecontrol, or get up into dog fight position and attempt to take the back from there. Because I am a 0 degree white belt, every time I tried a double leg, I got guillotined LMaO! did not even get a chance to do the rest of the techniques :( i pray that as I practice, i will improve ;)

Young instructor: because I am a zero degree white belt, I cannot even do a forward shoulder roll in a straight line, but the Professor gave us very detailed explanation on how to do it well, and also side break fall. He also had lots of philosophical ideas on how I can pass my enemy’s guard, do the knee on belly, and do the knee slice. Now I finally understand what people meant when they liken BJJ to playing chess.Lots of food for thought. If I can incorporate his ideas into my skills, my technique will improve a lot, giving me higher chances to defeat my enemies.

2 instructors: the black belt Professor asked the brown belt Professor to teach in cantonese, even though we all know English lol! I learned how to take my enemy’s back from his turtle guard, and then defeat him with a choke that I have never seen before. The choking arm grabs my enemy’s collar, and the supporting arm goes underneath my enemy’s arm and wraps around the back of my enemy’s head. Because I am a 0 degree white belt, I cannot push with both arms properly to generate enough torque to apply the choke efficiently. I used 100% of my strength, but my partner (the brown belt professor) barely taps, and I ended up hurting my pwn wrists and fingers lol. I pray that as I practice more, my technique will be more crisp.

Black instructor: 2 students. The other guy was late, so I had a private class for the first few minutes lol. The Professor is a BIIIIIIG dude! His height is only average(maybe around 1.7M ), but his upper body muscles are HUUUUGE! I signed up for a grappling class, but it turned out to be an MMA class, which is even better because I want to punch my enemies as well as grapple them ! We did cycling, heavy bag punching and kicking while standing, dummy punching and elbowing while mounting and in knee-on-belly position, and finally guard-passing sparring with a partner. Because I am a beginner, I was only able to burn 27 calories after 8 rounds of cycling. The professor said he can burn 30 in 1 round ^ _ ^ I pray that as I practice more, I can become less weak ;)

HKer instructor: the self defence class started out unexpected. First, we did a dive roll over a tall object. It was too scary for me so I just did a regular forward roll. Then, we jumped over a high rail, like in parkour, or something like that. I was not able to, so I jumped next to the rail rather than over it. The rest of the class is what you would expect in an MMA class. Lots of fun; the beginning was the hardest.

2 instructors: 6 students. The dude with the sleeveless tanktop muscle shirt was the main Master, whereas the beautiful female Master was his assistant. The master taught me how to move to my enemy’s blind side using my elbow. He also taught me to punch my enemy as I am moving from a Bond Sour to a Tan Sour, and also the defence against that(by trapping my enemy’s hands with my Fock Sour). Because I am a beginner, I had lots of trouble with the coordination of the movements. A lot of times during rolling, my hands became double under, or double top, when it is supposed to be one under one over. The washroom’s door was difficult to open and close today, probably the students from the kids’ classes damaged it :(

    BASIC WEIGHTTRAIN

Friendly instructor. Maybe a bit too friendly? I felt like the rest times were really long and not just because he was correcting form but because he and the other two girls (who seemed to be regulars) started conversing. But to be fair the class went on for an extra 30 mins as well (on the assumption it was only supposed to be an hour). I would’ve like it more if he corrected during the time you were doing it rather than the breaks. The following has nothing to do with the rating a chose but just something I needed to mention, I’m pretty good at conversational canto but really struggled to understand technical terms and what I can only assume were muscle names and things - so it was a bit hard to follow his corrections - has nothing to do with how I rated since I’m sure many would like the extra tidbits of info but it would have been easier for me if he simpled it down to “hands x width apart” “legs wider” “squeeze your core” and where I should be feeling it rather than trying to understand what he was talking about how because it’s a cable and something you can pull down more instead of shifting your body back (?) honestly I didn’t understand all that much. Space was nice and clean :$ felt inviting.

We ended up with 3 rounds of sparring so that everyone goes with everyone. Because I am a 0 degree white belt, I cannot even do a knee on belly properly.
