It was my first time trying solidcore. I’ve done Pilates and yoga and HIIT workouts but nothing could have prepared me for the roller coaster of emotions I felt during the class. I immediately panicked thinking I was going to die and would not make it through the class (convinced I would never book it again), then it turned into hopeful optimism, and by the end - sheer relief and looking forward to my next class! (I guess this is what childbirth must feel like?!). 11/10 recommend but it’s not for the faint hearted.

Sarah brings great energy to the class. Her camouflage leggings allowed her to move around surreptitiously, and without distraction. Similarly, her tied-over- the-shoulder sweatshirt brought a flair of graduate student / Abercrombie model to the dark, blue lit settings which added intrigue and studiousness. Finally, her air Jordan shoes reminded us that we are athletes doing cool things with our bodies. The class was well organized but also quite difficult, with Sarah calling our participants by name and approaching them to add instruction on form, even putting her foot down metaphorically and literally to prevent attendees from cheating the exercises. She is a great leader though her inability to describe the terminology for denizens of New York makes me concerned that solidcore may be working her too hard (while I enjoy Toucans, especially Toucan Sam of cereal fame, I am not sure the New Yorkans is a term of endearment for the big Apple citizens).

Great energy at key moments throughout the session, and a playlist that I really vibed with. The workout sequence flowed seamlessly, with smooth transitions between moves. Lainey was a great instructor! I had previously tried solidcore but didn’t like the environment and didn’t see myself going back. However, after only one class here through class pass I know I’ll become a regular! Great instructions at a good pace with great music - but not too loud where you can’t hear the instructions. Small class versus solidcores large classes where sometimes it’s hard to see. The instructor also did a great job of correcting people off mic. Adult - Ballet - Foundations

Thoughts wrt recent reviews - unless you’re talking about a Wednesday class, these classes are not mislabeled. Tuesday classes ARE classes that require 0 experience, but y’all want 0 experience Day 1 class experiences when the term started 8 to 12 weeks ago. All the studios in the city start their fall terms in Aug/Sept and really slow it down during the first few weeks. After that, all the good teachers still go over basic positions, what a plie/tendu/degage is, and how to access turnout etc every few weeks, but it wouldn’t be fair to people who showed up on day 1, with or without experience, to go over the same exact things every single class because you wanted to start late. If you want a Day 1 experience, see you Day 1 in Jan, May, or Aug - but you are likely capable of more than you think. Most people who show up with 0 experience have a good time and learn a lot if they are *actually* chill about figuring stuff out as they go along. Half the “experienced” regulars in the class who make it a positive environment showed up in the middle of the term with no experience and just kept trucking. ALSO: Corrections in front of the class are a compliment (good teachers only give corrections to people who can handle them or to prevent injury) and a gift for everyone to apply, including more experienced dancers - most have been doing ballet for less than a year or two, which is how long most people need to stay in absolute beginner classes before moving up. You’ll see them practicing the same thing! I truly understand how anxiety inducing those are (I’d break out into cold sweats at first), but this class cured my anxiety and taught me how to focus on myself. Vannessa does have a very irreverent and humorous teaching style that may not be for everyone, using funny stories to make corrections memorable. Idk i love it though. Tl;dr adjust your attitude (haha, pun), just enjoy a fun class with good technical corrections, foundational barres, and challenging across the floors

I always enjoy going to this class. Heat is great and there is enough room to spread out and not feel like your exchanging sweat with your neighbor. This teacher was good. However, some white noise would go along way to block out the neighbors noise which is very distracting when trying to be zen.

    WERQ with Lulu

Loulou was great and the class had great energy! I am someone who has taken dance classes before and I was expecting something slightly more ambitious, but it was still a great workout and perfect for people who like to dance and sweat! I had a great time :-).

    AERIAL FITNESS

Catering was a great instructor! It was my first time doing a class like this, and she explained and demo’d the moves very clearly. I was impressed with what I was able to do in one class! It made it fun and I want to do more aerial in my future. Might be my new hobby :)

    Basic Ballet

Melinda is fantastic. So encouraging and welcoming. I am a total beginner but she is ready to meet all dancers where they are and help them grow. I look forward to this class so much.

    Bikram Beginner's Yoga Class

I really enjoyed this class because it was a thorough workout. The instructor (naveed) was really helpful and very patient. You can tell he was 100% there to make sure you have a good session. I will be going back for more classes.
