You have to bring your A game to her classes, but it pays off 🙂

see all reviewsSarah brings great energy to the class. Her camouflage leggings allowed her to move around surreptitiously, and without distraction. Similarly, her tied-over- the-shoulder sweatshirt brought a flair of graduate student / Abercrombie model to the dark, blue lit settings which added intrigue and studiousness. Finally, her air Jordan shoes reminded us that we are athletes doing cool things with our bodies. The class was well organized but also quite difficult, with Sarah calling our participants by name and approaching them to add instruction on form, even putting her foot down metaphorically and literally to prevent attendees from cheating the exercises. She is a great leader though her inability to describe the terminology for denizens of New York makes me concerned that solidcore may be working her too hard (while I enjoy Toucans, especially Toucan Sam of cereal fame, I am not sure the New Yorkans is a term of endearment for the big Apple citizens).

see all reviewsGreat energy at key moments throughout the session, and a playlist that I really vibed with. The workout sequence flowed seamlessly, with smooth transitions between moves. My only suggestion would be to make the cues for pauses a bit clearer, specifying exactly when to pause and when to pulse. Overall, Abby seems like an excellent instructor— and I don’t say that lightly!

see all reviewsLainey was a great instructor! I had previously tried solidcore but didn’t like the environment and didn’t see myself going back. However, after only one class here through class pass I know I’ll become a regular! Great instructions at a good pace with great music - but not too loud where you can’t hear the instructions. Small class versus solidcores large classes where sometimes it’s hard to see. The instructor also did a great job of correcting people off mic. Would def recommend for anyone looking into reformer Pilates classes.

see all reviewsThoughts wrt recent reviews - unless you’re talking about a Wednesday class, these classes are not mislabeled. Tuesday classes ARE classes that require 0 experience, but y’all want 0 experience Day 1 class experiences when the term started 8 to 12 weeks ago. All the studios in the city start their fall terms in Aug/Sept and really slow it down during the first few weeks. After that, all the good teachers still go over basic positions, what a plie/tendu/degage is, and how to access turnout etc every few weeks, but it wouldn’t be fair to people who showed up on day 1, with or without experience, to go over the same exact things every single class because you wanted to start late. If you want a Day 1 experience, see you Day 1 in Jan, May, or Aug - but you are likely capable of more than you think. Most people who show up with 0 experience have a good time and learn a lot if they are *actually* chill about figuring stuff out as they go along. Half the “experienced” regulars in the class who make it a positive environment showed up in the middle of the term with no experience and just kept trucking. ALSO: Corrections in front of the class are a compliment (good teachers only give corrections to people who can handle them or to prevent injury) and a gift for everyone to apply, including more experienced dancers - most have been doing ballet for less than a year or two, which is how long most people need to stay in absolute beginner classes before moving up. You’ll see them practicing the same thing! I truly understand how anxiety inducing those are (I’d break out into cold sweats at first), but this class cured my anxiety and taught me how to focus on myself. Vannessa does have a very irreverent and humorous teaching style that may not be for everyone, using funny stories to make corrections memorable. Idk i love it though. Tl;dr adjust your attitude (haha, pun), just enjoy a fun class with good technical corrections, foundational barres, and challenging across the floors

The upbeat dance music and especially Nikki’s energizing persona helped me get through it. I think it’s a very effective workout for toning and sculpting because every muscle in my body was put to work. There was variety in the class in age and body type but you can tell the women who were regulars looked awesome and sculpted. I swear one class made a difference in overall toning my body!
