I liked that Mariela gave a really thorough intro/demo to the circuits before we did anything, and she had an assistant in the room to guide with form/timings/etc. I would’ve liked a bit more help in terms of modifications, as I found some of the moves got too difficult as the class progressed. They are very welcoming and work with you. The thing I love most about this class was that we used foam mats for abdominal workouts which is great for me because I suffer from a lot of lower back pain whenever I perform abdominal workouts but I was able to push myself.

But what it does differently is the intensity and frequency of changes in positions so you’re getting a good workout but not dying either. Would recommend!

see all reviewsThis class was 5-10x harder than all other teachers. I’ve taken pure barre since 2016. I have had the “shakes” in months or years. I come 2-3x week with a variety of teachers but first time with Matty. He used unique movies but also classic poses. There’s something to be said about doing moves for longer to create the shakes which I haven’t seen teachers do in a long time. I was actually sore from this class.

see all reviewsI like the 38th street location wayy better than 54th st. The bathrooms, lockers and sauna are modern and super clean. I went at 11am on Thursday and it was empty. I used the studio on the 3rd floor to do my warm up + yoga. And then hit the machines for strength and cardio. Staff was very nice and helpful. This might just be my new go-to.

She was very involved and always adjusting us to make sure we had proper form so we wouldn’t injure ourselves, which I very much appreciated. She did count a lot though, and perhaps this is just my personal preference, but I’m not a huge fan when instructors overcount because then I focus more on the reps than the workout. I just prefer cues into the next set. Other than that, she was great and encouraging and I love how she incorporated a lot of cardio into the workout!

We also did a ton of core work, almost all that incorporated the ball or tube for further intensity. This studio just needs to figure out their temp controls bc it’s either an ice box or oven. There is no in between.

see all reviewsI really enjoyed the time spent here on Sunday morning. It's getting more difficult to find studios that offer this style practice with the traditional 26 poses. It was an intimate setting with about 5 or 6 of us taking the class. Great feedback on alignment and thoughtful advice on how to achieve specific poses. My only wish was that the room was hotter rather than warm, but other than that I will return!

see all reviewsI thought I was in shape until this class. I usually work out 3 days a week doing HIIT classes, but this one kicked by butt. Super fast paced class with no breaks.! Expect to do high reps counts of exercises like lunges, squats, deadlifts, rows, tricep extensions etc with weights in hand and cardio bursts of jumping jacks, high knees, burpees, skiers and squat jumps. FYI, no locks for lockers so you have to bring your own or find a place to stash it in the workout studio room. Class size tonight was around 25 people.
