Below are some workout genres that will put you in a good place to explore all that ClassPass has to offer. By the time you’re done, you’ll have a whole selection of favorite studios and class types to choose from, and you won’t think twice about trying something new, either. Here are the class types to get you started:

Pilates

With a focus on alignment, a Pilates class gives you a chance to take stock on where your body is at right now. Because this workout is relatively slow moving, it will give you a chance to feel out any potential lingering injuries as well as give the instructor the opportunity to become aware of any issues they can see. Speak with your instructor before class to let them know you’re easing into things, then follow up with them post-class to see what they noticed.

Gym Time

Even if you joined ClassPass for its wide variety of classes, spending some time at the gym by booking a gym time slot can be hugely beneficial. It allows you to go at your own pace, whether that means slowing down or taking things up a notch. A solo workout can give you a chance to see what fitness level you’re truly at and also allow you to push yourself, when you want to, to see how much further you can go. Our 5-class Base Plan will get you started!

Rowing

This mainly seated workout can be a little less intimidating than a standard bootcamp class but has all the benefits. The repetitive movement also gives you time to lose yourself in the workout and just really focus on enjoying your body in motion. It’s also easy to go at your own speed, and the stats on the screen are great at motivating you and tracking improvement over time.

Boxing or Martial Arts

What’s refreshing about ClassPass is that you can try things you never thought you would, so take a chance and head to a sword fighting class, or capoeira. Martial arts offers a huge variety of classes that are often as mentally interesting as they are physically stimulating. You’ll learn about an ancient craft, or even real-life self defense skills, all while getting an amazing workout.

Restorative Yoga or Stretching

When you haven’t been working out consistently, stretching is more important than ever. It gives your body the recovery time it needs and relieves your muscles of some of the soreness and tenderness you may be feeling. While it’s easy to skip these kinds of classes because they don’t always feel like they’re directly contributing to your health, taking the time to slow down and allowing your body to process the changes that are taking place within it can have a huge positive impact.
