Open Level Aerial Silks with Lydia
I love aerial and had been to classes before a few years ago. My older classes were all beginners and so we got a lot more attention whereas this class had a few beginners where we shared one silk and the teacher split her time between us and the skilled people there. It was a fun class but for people that want more of a workout and one on one training, I would not recommend this. It is also in the soccerplex with games going on around you. Kind of a weird setting but y’all ceilings so I get why it’s in there.

I was under the impression we would be in a studio but instead the class met in an indoor soccer complex. It was cold in there and we watched some girls practicing on the silks but we weren’t sure if they were private clients or a previous class. A couple girls left before the class started because of the confusion of the location and coldness. The instructor knew her stuff but wasn’t always clear on explaining some moves. We were about six new girls and she would give us a move to practice and then go instruct the more advanced girls. I had fun but I was still watching the clock most of the time. Could’ve been a lot better.

The instructor asked me to reschedule due to food poisoning. So I showed up at noon the next day per her text but she forgot to tell me she wasn’t feeling better for that class either. I asked to reschedule a third time but she never responded (she said “let me look up your account” so I’m pretty sure she refused once she saw I was a class pass participant)...this was incredibly inconsiderate. I’ve been looking forward to trying this class for months and finally had a free minute in my busy working mom life to do it but I can’t all because of a fickle instructor. Plus this is located inside an indoor KidZone soccer arena which was sketchy...PASS.

The class was a difficult to find due to being inside of soccer zone. Overall, it was a fun class and a very unique instructor.

Lydia was amazing and patient. I went with 3 other friends and she made us comfortable. The other more advanced students we very patient and good examples.

This was my first time ever doing anything aerial and holy moly is it a work out! I am sore in places Ive never been sore before. It was really fun and Id definitely do it again!

Four Elements Austin classes

How to prepare

Please plan on arriving to class 15 minutes early to park, check-in, and get settled before class. Four Elements has a 10-minute grace period for late arrivals. For Pole class, the studio recommends wearing tight shorts that expose the backs of the knees for beginners and the upper thighs for intermediate/advanced students. Wear a tank top with a sports bra underneath in case you would like to remove the tank top for additional grip. (Exposed skin helps the body grip to the pole). For Aerial classes, the studio recommends wearing tight leggings that cover the backs of the knees as well as a tight fitting top. Exposed skin is susceptible to friction burn from silks, lyras, trapeze, and rope when not properly covered. Certain moves may require short sleeves for armpit coverage. For Groundwork classes, the studio recommends any comfortable attire you may wear to the gym or to yoga class. All jewelry must be removed prior to class as it may damage the apparatus and/or snag on your body and cause injury to yourself. They recommend that students do not apply lotions before attending class.
