    Signature I

Challenging class that definitely stacked up against other barre classes I have taken. Right when I was about to want to stop, we'd shift moves which kept the pace good. Jarred was also a very helpful and welcoming instructor.

    Exhale Barre

Such an Awesome class that completely overshadowed a few not-so-amazing experiences in her class so this definitely redeemed her! From using both weights + the blue band for arms, then what felt like an endless thigh section covering 5 positions, it was very challenging

Love love love Alex - hands down, one of the best instructors at exhale. As a competitive athlete, cross training is a necessity, and alex always finds a way to keep his students challenged, engaged + burning the minute muscles. Appreciated how he threw in a quick glute set inbetween our thigh work to give us a bit of a reset. My only caveat is that the arms section was a bit choppy with transitions + I wish we covered more positions for triceps + back. Otherwise, Im disappointed that exhale classes are now a standard 12 credits via ClassPass - a huge jump from the 9 that it used to be! Plus, even the 30 min HIIT + 45 min barre are 12 now. Makes zero sense + in turn, has lead me to other studios as a result. Shame.

    FlyBarre 60

I really like this instructor. She changes up her routine and is encouraging and offers moderations. I noticed she added more stretching in (some people, including myself, had mentioned these classes needed more stretching in past reviews).

    FlyBarre 60

Chelsea is an incredible instructor!! Though overall I wish flybarre would switch up its format or moves more. Same arms every time, mostly mat work and very little barre. All of wish makes it not as challenging as other barre classes in the city.

Great workout and instructor was very nice! Sometimes I wish theyd give you modifications on a move though if youre visibly struggling so you can do something to work the muscle group rather than nothing at all.

    Pure Barre Classic

While the pure barre method is not as dynamic or challenging as my top choice of barre in NYC, it does provide its own level of intensity due to the small, specific, minute movements (ie lots of pulsing, tucking, up/down an inch, isometric holds) and the multiple sets of core work are always fire. Band usage for standing glutes today targeted the muscle almost immediately, so my hammies are feeling it tonight. And Ava is one of my fave instructors here - clear instruction, attn given to all students, provides feedback. Mid day classes should be far less credits though than prime time. Only 10 students max are in the noon or 1pm’s, so why is this the same credit amount??

    Pure Reform (50 Mins)

Quite possibly her best, most challenging and in depth class to date! Wish every Sunday was this intense - loved the longer sets, where I could actually feel the burn vs. sets ending after way too few reps; quick transitions (ie zero downtime = more work covered); multiple upper body movements done during thighs and core work, covering every muscle group during compound exercises; plus multiple killer ab sections for the upper, lower + obliques using the gliders and bungees in creative ways. Awesome all around.

Ben's combinations and emphasis on movement/musicality made this class much more interesting than your usual intro level class. He actually made me feel like I was dancing even though I'm a real beginner. Please have Ben teach Intro to Ballet regularly

    Barre Xtreme

Good class, great instructor, very challenging. The only thing I’ll say is that I do not recommend it if you are over 5’9. The bar is installed very low so you might have to contort yourself into some uncomfortable poses to get it done.

    Pure Reform

First time taking reform. Love using the sliders. Some of the positions weren’t as clear what muscle I was working, less of the heavy burn of a regular classic class. Would like to try again to see if these things feel more clear next time. Instructor was great, beautiful space as all Pure Barre studios are...

Very clean facilities. Kate was lovely and gave helpful hands-on adjustments and helped me stretch much deeper. Not a cardio-heavy class, but very helpful for alignment and restoration. I felt an inch taller after leaving!
