see all reviewsDid the Sunday morning Ashtanga express and enjoyed it! It’s described as the fundamentals and think that’s accurate - beginners would feel welcome here but someone who has done Ashtanga before would still enjoy the pared down primary sequence and getting to skip jump backs and forwards if desired. Carlotta was lovely and very encouraging, offering assists and advice throughout. It might not be intense enough for a hardcore Ashtangi, but for the rest of us it was a wonderful start to a Sunday

On this particular class, there was one participant who was disruptive throughout the class, and they’re the one leaving her a 2 star review below. Don’t always trust what you read on the internet without context, my friends :) Take Leah’s class!

see all reviewsOpen Flow with Ying Wang was a great class. Ying does a great job of cueing so that you know how your body should be positioned and aligned to get the benefits of the practice. The class was structured well to allow for differing levels of difficulty. It was pleasantly challenging. I also appreciated that Yang’s choice in musics was in the subtle side. The space in Arise is beautiful. I always feel calm in there. Would love to take this again in the future.

see all reviewsShe is the best instructor I've taken with at Kala. I have had yoga with a few others as well and they were wonderful! Allysa is like a calming drill sergeant. I believe it's because she is really present with her students and can sense when they need that extra, "you're stronger than you think" or "it's okay to choose lower weights if you need that right now". She remembers everyone's name. She notices the small things like if you are trying to knit your lower rib cage together while not even being cued. I mean teachers talk about this a lot in cues but do they really see when you are doing it on your own? It's subtle. I think her years as a professional dancer have helped shape the teacher she is now. The class she designed has an amazing playlist and the short circuits are perfectly tailored so you don't get burnt out by too long of reps in one area. This class is part of why I joined class pass and I hope it stays.

see all reviewsAlways love love love Mitch! He’s actually one of the best teachers in NYC. I highly highly recommend him… especially if you want an advanced practice. But even though his practice is Ashtanga based, he’s so much more approachable and makes practicing fun and enjoyable. I always feel challenged in a comfortable manner. I truly feel like I can deepen my practice in his classes. Thank you, always! 🙏

see all reviewsI love Zao Yin’s sound healing class. I went twice while visiting NYC, and I’m so glad I did. She focused on the sacral chakra area, especially the hips, which felt incredible and was exactly what I needed. I also really appreciated the spiritual elements she incorporated into the class. I felt so open, relaxed, and renewed afterward. She is super friendly, and you can clearly see that she genuinely loves what she does. The studio is beautiful as well. The space is lovely, filled with windows, and has such a warm, uplifting energy. When I come back to Manhattan, I can’t wait to visit this studio again.
