How to Increase Employee Engagement

Last updated: August 5, 2024 By Stephanie Schappert

As companies recognize the direct link between employee well-being and overall productivity, implementing wellness initiatives has emerged as a powerful strategy to achieve these goals. A robust wellness program can not only boost employee morale but also create a sense of belonging and support among diverse teams.

How to increase employee engagement

Adoption and engagement are key to a successful wellness program, which is why we’ve rounded up the top ways to get your team on board with the benefits you offer. Here’s how to help your team engage with your organization’s wellness benefits:

  • Be inclusive with your programs
  • Offer incentives for getting healthy
  • Provide education and resources
  • Reduce friction and increase access
  • Add a social element

Be inclusive with your programs

Different people have different wellness needs, so it's crucial to take an inclusive approach that caters to diverse backgrounds, cultures, and abilities. Take time to understand the unique needs and preferences of your workforce. Then, implement programs that can address their wellness challenges and interests.

Offer incentives for getting healthy

It can be a struggle to balance all the different priorities and obligations of life and work—wellness included. So why not incentivize your team to prioritize healthy behaviors? Provide company-wide incentives such as flexible hours, financial perks, or merchandise when team members hit their wellness goals. Encourage departments to engage in their own competitions or events to boost involvement (more on this later!).

Provide education and resources

As fun as rewards are, true health and long-term sustainability can only be accomplished when individuals recognize the intrinsic value of managing their health successfully. Provide your employees with resources (workshops, webinars, etc.) to learn about their health, how to manage it, and why it’s so important to prioritize.

Reduce friction and increase access

Make the reality of achieving better health easier for your employees. Ensure your corporate wellness program has options for everyone—whatever their location or favorite wellness activity is. ClassPass allows users to search by activity, location, class duration, and more, with thousands of wellness experiences at their fingertips. Level the playing field for your employees by offering easy access to the very resources that will help them get and stay healthy.

Add a social element

When it comes to wellness, having the support of others is both helpful and encouraging. Offer challenges throughout the year that encourage friendly competition amongst teams and divisions. Another option: Work with community recreation departments to get company teams together for different sports. Employees will benefit from movement and team building.

A thriving workplace starts with nurturing the well-being of its people. By taking a comprehensive and inclusive approach, you can increase participation and make a positive impact on the health and happiness of your employees. Learn how ClassPass can help.
