    Pilates Reformer: Burnout

This class is like SLT meets actual Pilates. It’s in a dark room with candles a la soul cycle with soothing music a la Pilates but the burnout I did was plank after plank. I’m obsessed. And Alec was so welcoming of newbies and modifying for injuries. Loved him. Will be back!

This place is fantastic, so I am still giving it five stars. However: Instructor cues in this class were not effective and transitions between the exercises were awkward and time-consuming. It would be amazing if Jay could just have all the instructors here repeat his routines Instead (or at least the newer instructors whose routines are not as polished as his).

Really enjoyed the instructor. Challenging and great attitude. Space is still a construction zone. Not loving the concrete stairs. Edge is really sharp on your bare feet. Lots of uneven edges on sides of room be careful. Stair has no safety railing. Looks cool but when we were changing over classes and crowding on the stairs I felt like someone could tumble over easily. Might want to wear some shoes up until you get on the reformer. Glass door was missing panels so you could hear the music from the lobby which had crazy base and was totally different from the music in the room and it was really distracting. Maybe come back in a month once things are finished. Only one bathroom and two changing areas. Might want to consider changing and peeing at home. .

Great vibe here, I like the low lights and loud music. It is a little warm in the studio so dress accordingly. If youre new its better to get a machine in the middle so you can see other people and the instructor hangs there the most. Its a little hard to understand some of the moves if you havent been but before class the teacher demonstrated some (so go early and watch!). They dont use the traditional Lagree names so I was a little lost at times but I think the more you go the more you will catch on. Teacher was full of energy and excitement- you can tell he is passionate about his work there. Highly recommend Jacob!

LOVED this class! Katherine has been my favorite instructor yet. I took this same class last week with another and this one was more fun while being more challenging and with much more individual adjustments for everyone in the class. The studio is fresh and airy with a cool playlist going.

Great class, super challenging. This studio is always very very humid and quite hot though. I was next to the thermostat and the temperature was 75 when class started and 77 when it ended. Way too hot on a muggy day like this.

Xiomara is an awesome teacher!!! I had an injury and so did another student and she tailored things that gave us a great workout without further injury - ie - she gives great cues and really understands the body - most teachers ask about your injury (if at all) and then forget about it for the rest of class- phenomenal class.

I really enjoyed Angeline's class. I took her open level class before and she was really tough so I was scared level 2 would be way too advanced for me. I'm comfortable enough with pilates but every instructor is different. She gave great modifications and I always learn new moves when I take her class. I also appreciated that she used props and not just the basic reformer exercises. I'll be back! I used to only go to Marina but now Angeline and Marina are my go to's.

This was a great workout, I'm pretty sure I'll be feeling it tomorrow. I can't help but think there is always something awkward about this studio. Maybe it's the lighting, maybe it's the people that go, maybe it's that the whole street can watch you work out in the big open window. It's not awkward enough to turn me away but it's just something I've noticed.

It's really rare I give such a great review for a class but Tara effing killed it. She was super energetic and knowledgeable. In a TRX class it's really easy to hurt yourself if you don't know proper form since 1 instructor to like 12-16 people is an impossible ratio but she did a great job overall. As a personal trainer, I felt super safe in her class!! Highly recommend. Esp since she was so nice!!!!!

Great workout, sleek studio, awesome instructor! I’ve done megaformer classes at other places and was a bit intimidated by the reviews of solidcore, but Haly went through a friendly overview of the machine before class and gave exceptionally clear cues throughout the workout with positivity as she cheered on us on. Couldn’t ask for a better introduction to solidcore or a better workout on a megaformer.

Very nice venue. super clean and cute. everything seems new. There are no appropiate changing rooms, and no showers (lets agree that no one sweats a lot at a Pilates class though) Class was very pleasent and well taught. the fact that we were only 5 made it great. Im not a fam of Pilates as it is on the weaker side of the workout for me, but for those who are into it i highly recommend.

After six months of being sedentary, I’m so glad I decided to jump back into wellness with this amazing studio. The space is small so be mindful of that if you are on the toll side but other than that, the class was amazing. Low-key enough for a beginner but challenging enough for a seasoned athlete. The instructor, Kim put me at ease and let us make some modifications and go at our own pace while allowing more experienced students to take on more advanced repetitions. This is a full body workout so come prepared to do Burpee‘s, crunches, lunches, and weights!

This was my first time at the studio which was semi small but clean. The other students seemed to be regulars so I had to ask for occasional assistance on setting up the reformer machines. Danbi was super welcoming as I came early and she showed me around. She talked to me about her journey and told me a few important things that would be happening before the class. Before the class started we went over a few key moves and things to know about the reformer. Class was DIFFICULT and I’ve done classes like Tone House and other intense HIIT classes. I loved challenging myself in a different way today and even though the music wasn’t my vibe the workout and Danbi definitely were. Even if you’re new to workout don’t feel bad about taking a pause when your muscle is about to cramp because it’s a community of people at different levels but I saw many people stopping at a point. Pilates on the Square is a no frill studio that lets you get in as much of a Pilates machine work out you'd like in under an hour. It's half reformer and half tower and you can request specific exercises as the teachers are all friendly and nice. They don't use a lot of fancy Pilates terms, they just get to the point. You can also do your own thing sometimes, depending on the teacher. I like working out here and always feel welcome and that I got enough actual exercises in. This may not work for everyone but it's a good studio, and they have 2 other locations in the Flatiron/Chelsea area. They also sell additional classes for a very good price.

    Mat Class

Atsko has great energy and put a smile on everyones face. The class was fun with a lot of variation so I didnt get bored. Atsko provided modifications and advanced options to make the moves work for everyone with great form. One of the best mat classes Ive taken.

    Habitat Beginners Class-Pilates Machine

The absolute nicest instructor. This was a great class for introduction to the cadillac and reformer machines (half of the class was on each). I had never used either before, and she teaches as though you dont know what youre doing which is perfect. My class was pretty full - 7 or 8 people - but apparently its often smaller so you get even more personalized attention. Highly recommend for first time on the Pilates machines or if youre still new to them (I could probably use another beginner class to feel truly comfortable).

    Brooklyn Barre Method- Mixed Level

Great workout! This is not a P57 or Pure Barre style barre class - more like a power Pilates with cardio and some barre tossed in. Kristen was awesome.

    Pilates Plate Strength

This was my first time taking this class and I ended up being the only one this class so I got a lot of personal attention. The instructor was cheerful and very detailed in instructor demonstrating the right and wrong way to do the exercises which I found extremely helpful since I’ve been working through injuries and still fairly new to Pilates. I appreciated her thoroughness and catering her routine to work with me where I’m at. While it wasn’t a sweat inducing workout my flexibility did increase by the end of the class. I would attend again.
