Wouldn’t recommend for beginners, challenging in a good way but not always easy to follow along although moves rotate quickly. Studio lacks plastic bags for clothes, shower wipes or anything to help you freshen up if you have head elsewhere afterwards, and lockers are tiny

    BURNOUT (endurance)

I really love this nyp studio. It’s so gorg. I only take their burnout classes bc I don’t find them too challenging so I worry the aaa classes will be too easy for me. This class was really good just a little too short for me. We ended after like 47 minutes and I wish we could’ve done more leg movements like lunges. But this class has a great ab and plank focus which I love and is why I keep coming back. Just for this price I want a class that’s longer.

First time at BodyRok. Machine is similar to that of Lagree’s. Zach was phenomenal. Instructions were clear both verbally and demonstrated. Moves were killer. Abs, butt, legs and arms all felt sculpted. Clean studio. Spacious locker room area downstairs with a lounge room. Lotion, body spray, deo spray. Multiple bathrooms. Great selfie-lighting. Nice check-in staff member. Highly recommend. Will def be back to take classes with him.

    FOUNDATIONS (core building)

Pilates is a lot harder than it looks. Especially if you are very thoughtful about it and do it properly. this worked muscles other workouts neglect, sych as hamstrings, and smaller more subtle muscles in the core. It is a very core intensive workout. I have done to beginner classes one with Katherine and one with Sean. Sean's was a little bit harder, but they were both very good introductory classes. If you have never done Pilates, or haven't done it in a long time, you should definitely take this beginner class. the SOHO Studio is beautiful, but I found the Greenwich Village Studio a little more welcoming

Xiomara is an awesome teacher!!! I had an injury and so did another student and she tailored things that gave us a great workout without further injury - ie - she gives great cues and really understands the body - most teachers ask about your injury (if at all) and then forget about it for the rest of class- phenomenal class.

West African Dance (live drumming - beginners encouraged)

One of the best classes I've ever taken! I was nervous going into it because I have very little dance experience, and zero in West African dancing, but it was very easy to follow along. We started with the basics then learned a whole dance piece by piece. Everyone was so welcoming and cheered each other on. And man, I am sore the day after.

There were only 2 of us so it was like a semi private! Lucky both of us were fairly experienced so the class was paced quickly. Definitely prefer the 60 min class with a timely start and finish with quick change overs. Beautiful white aesthetic with body balance machines. Theres a filtered water fountain available with cups.

    PILATES on the MEGA

New to me class format but have taken Lauren's 40 min Megaformer class before too. Tiny bit of a slower pace than some other Mega classes here - nonetheless still challenging on the equipment! We were on the machine the entire time. I liked that this class has a Pilates twist so there were a few different moves we did. Lauren also did a good job to explain each move and demonstrate. Worked the entire body - arms legs and a lot of core. Can't wait to go back!

    Flex 30/30 Barre/Pilates

Barre section is more cardio / pylometrics. Great warm up. Probably better anyways bc their barres are really uneven and wobbly and not secured well to the wall. Have always enjoyed their version of reformer. More like a mega former. Dripping sweat. They dont open many spots up to classpass which is a shame bc the class is half empty. They could have so many more people walk through and try their product if they were more open. Also union square reservation window closes two or three hours before class.

    Community Class

Danbi was super welcoming as I came early and she showed me around. She talked to me about her journey and told me a few important things that would be happening before the class. Before the class started we went over a few key moves and things to know about the reformer. Class was DIFFICULT and I’ve done classes like Tone House and other intense HIIT classes. I loved challenging myself in a different way today and even though the music wasn’t my vibe the workout and Danbi definitely were. Even if you’re new to workout don’t feel bad about taking a pause when your muscle is about to cramp because it’s a community of people at different levels but I saw many people stopping at a point. I cant wait to take a full Pilates class with Richie! This class teaches you all of the Pilates machine basics and proper body placement. I would recommend taking a second class afterwards if this is your only workout for the day.

    Yoga Basics

Instructor was amazing! She was very easy to relate to and connect with! Some teachers can act overly zen to the point where it feels forced but not her, I appreciated that! She taught us at a nice pace, neither too fast nor too slow, and as someone extremely new to Yoga I felt comfortable and welcome!
