It’s the most wonderful (and stressful!) time of the year. Now more than ever, it’s hard to find time to exercise amid an endless list of holiday to-dos. So, when your members do make it to your studio for a class, why not greet them with a festive space that gets them in the holiday spirit? Whether you’ve already decked your studio’s halls and are looking for some easy yet high impact finishing touches or want to overhaul your holiday décor, read on for some modern ideas.

Go Metallic

Home décor trends are all about metallic which also happens to look super festive and classy for the holidays. How do you capitalize on this trend in your studio? Think bold statement piece at your front desk—something like a metallic snow globe or some metallic trees. Look for good deals at Home Goods or Marshall’s. Opt for a soft metallic, like a rose gold or muted silver. When it comes to metallic, less shine is more for a classy look.

For an affordable and easy DIY, pick up some terracotta planters or flower pots and spray paint them in a metallic shade, like copper. Fill them with succulents or a mix of copper-toned ornaments for a monochromatic look and place a few at your front desk and in your bathrooms and locker room vanity area.

Weave in Some Greenery

Pantone’s official color of 2017, greenery is all about the lushness of the great outdoors. It also works well as a focal point of your holiday décor.  Add a touch of greenery throughout your studio by picking up some topiaries and placing them at your front desk and in your bathrooms. You can also place some mantel greenery on your front desk for an earthy vibe. Decorate your greenery with bay leaves or berries to complete the look.

Add a Bold Pop of Red to Your Christmas Tree

Pom poms and tassels were one of spring and summer’s hottest fashion trends and they’re still going strong, even in holiday decor. Put a twist on the usual silver or gold garland by hanging some red pom pom garland on your tree. You can buy it at Michael’s. Pom pom garland is so versatile and can also be displayed at the front desk or in smaller pieces outside the door to each individual studio.

Think Blue and White for Hanukkah

Besides being a nod to the festival of lights, working blue and white into your holiday décor also says winter wonderland. Pick up glass ball ornaments in blue and silver and place them in clear vases at the front desk or in the bathroom area. Sleek and simple modern menorahs help complete the look.

Dress Up Your Bathrooms and Vanity Area

From metallic accents to touches of greenery, you’ve already read about a few decor ideas to try in your bathroom and locker room area. But if you’re looking for a last-minute, low-budget idea that can carry you through February, pick up some clear vases from your local dollar store and fill them with blue marbles as your base then spray paint some branches and twigs white. The result? A simple and classic look that says winter.

Experiment with Wall Decals

Wall decals are one of the most affordable ways to make a quick impact in your studio. Since they’re all removable and repositionable, they’re also the easiest way to add holiday cheer to your space. Think snowflakes for your studio front and entryway, or try something more playful, like an “All I Want for Christmas Is…” sign. Give clients the opportunity to fill in the blank with their own fit and fun ideas on a whiteboard or chalkboard.

You can even use your walls to inspire members to start thinking about the New Year. While members tend to fall off a regular exercise schedule during the holidays, their commitment to get back on track spikes in January. That’s why now’s the time to get members excited about their fitness resolutions. Brainstorm some inspiring words and quotes that speak to you and your studio’s culture’s (things like “progress not perfection” or “strong is beautiful”) and hang them together by your front desk or entryway in a gallery wall of sorts. The best part? Quotes like these will inspire members without making them feel bogged down with unrealistic resolutions. And that’s an idea we can all get behind for 2018.
