How to prepare
Clothing and sneakers. Practically speaking, wear loose clothing and a good pair of supportive sneakers. Avoid sneakers that have soles that are too flat and inflexible. Running sneakers tend to have an accentuated curvature along the toe line. Select aerobic or cross trainer sneakers with good arch and ankle support. Mats. Nonskid thin yoga mats are encouraged for the yoga class. Thicker folding or rollable mats are suggested for the other classes. Weights. They recommend that you have two sets of weights. If you are a beginner, one set of 2-3 lbs and one set of 4-5 lbs. Advanced participants should be working with one set of 5 lbs and 1 set of 8-10 lbs. A limited number of weights are available to try on site at Ballet Arts only. Weights can be stored in the closet but please put your initials on the weights with indelible marker. Resistance bands. Arm and leg resistance bands are provided by the instructors for use during the class.
How to get there
Winchester Aerobics is held at two locations, for evening classes it's held at The Winchester Town Hall at 71 Mt. Vernon Street in the heart of Winchester. The auditorium is located at the end of the building closest to the duck pond on the right. The best parking is available across the street in the Jenks parking lot. When the auditorium is being used for large gatherings, class is relocated within the building. Generally it is relocated to the Winchester Room located to the far left of the building, on the main floor. Thursday night classes are always in the cozy Winchester Room. Signs are posted when classes are occasionally moved. Morning classes are held at the Ballet Arts Centre, 50 Cross Street. Parking is available in the front or in the lower parking lot.
