About this studio

SMX Personal Training has been serving New Orleans for over 20 years. Historically they have been strictly a Personal Training Studio utilizing the most advanced methods and equipment for an incredibly effective and efficient resistance training workout. They now also offer Body Burn: This 1 to 3 person class was designed to provide a HIIT workout that will burn more calories per minute than any other workout. This workout is performed on 3 low impact pieces of equipment: the Jacob's Ladder, Marpo Endless Rope, and a Versa Climber. All clients are personally monitored by their trainer to ensure they are safely capitalizing on every minute of their workout to ensure the "burn" of a tremendous amount of calories both during and after their workouts (Afterburn/EPOC effect).

How to prepare

Please book no less than 4 hours before class time. Please wear comfortable clothing and gym shoes. In order to utilize the Heart Rate and Calorie tracking portion of the workout, a heart rate monitor will be required. After much testing they have found the Scosche Rhythm Monitor to be the very best. You may rent one from SMX at the rate of $5.00 per class or purchase your own from SMX. If you have your own BLUE TOOTH monitor, there is a possibility that it may work as well. You may bring headphones and your own music.

How to get there

SMX Training is located at 735 Octavia Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. They are 1 block from the Magazine St. Whole Foods. Street and off street parking is readily available. SMX Training also includes personal resistance training which may be scheduled directly through SMX. The new BODY BURN segment of the studio is being offered through ClassPass.

The BEST workout, with an amazing trainer- cant believe I could accomplish so much in just 30 minutes! This workout was extremely low impact on knees, back and joints while still making my heart race. 100% recommend to anyone who wants an efficient, effective, and professionally led experience.

Russell was a great instructor! All the machines were new to me and he was really good at explaining them and keeping me motivated. He let me take an extra break when I got a little tired but kept pushing me too! Great combo for a trainer! It was also a 1:1 session so everything was really tailored to me!

second session here and it was tough today. hardest e0 min workout I have done in a while, possibly of all time ! hope to do better next time here but definetely got a good one in.

We are glad to have you back! Yes, the work out can be quite intense! You will find the more trained you are on the equipment, the harder you will be able to work without being as destroyed after. It is amazing how the human body adapts to the stress of exercise!

I was not totrally sure about a 30 min wotkout but this one sure kicked my butt. From the JACOBS LADDER to the ENDLESS ROPE then the VERSA CLIMBER to close it out...for a shorter time workout it definetely was plenty and I. ant imagine much longer unless it addwd another different component...Would love to do 30 min treadmill run after this one ! I look forward to booking another session soon ! try this one - you will be glad you did !

I know! On the surface it sounds like 30 minutes is not that much, however the body responds best to the "intensity" of exercise, not the "duration" of exercise. By simple definition you can not have both. Either you can work out "hard" or you can work out "long", but you cannot physically do both (work out very hard for very long). So we provide a brief but intense exercise session that creates meaningful results and doesn't cut into your day!
