He has a keen ability to bring the class his students back to the breath, to drop inside, and to be present. His sequences are also challenging so you get a good physical workout along with the mental workout, and he always flows to a great playlist which makes the fly by like a dance. see all reviewsThis is a great class that starts slow and builds to a fast paced flow and then cools back down. The positions are fairly standard, but become more challenging as the heat and pace build. The sequences are repeated as you go on, but it can be a little hard to follow when the pace is at its fastest as the commands are short and quick in succession and can be hard to hear over the music as the instructor moves about. However most people were able to remember the order as we went, so I just had to occasionally peak at my neighbor. That being said, I ate a ton of paint chips as a kid, so short-term memory is not really a strength of mine, most will likely not have this problem.

I usually do the Classic style and I really liked the fact that this wasn't about the gears and keeping up with a specific pace but more so interpreting the cues to what feels right for you. I also really loved Emogene's music variety and her sweet and motivating energy! It was my first class and I was kind of intimidated at first but she was super welcoming, explained everything and gave clear reminders throughout class. The workout was challenging for sure but there were plenty of places to modify to make it easier or harder. The format of the class helped the time pass by so quick, I never got bored and was able to give each exercise my all since they were done in short intervals. Will be coming back for sure.

Today was my first time back at Pilates Republic in a while, and Carissa reminded me of why I fell in love with this studio in the first place! It's usually not too busy (though I go in the afternoon, not sure what it looks like at 5:30 on a weekday), the staff and Bryan the manager are super friendly and inviting. Also, they are very relaxed with the "1-hour window" of open gym, so you don't need to feel rushed. Great experience.

They offer a complimentary rental towel if it’s your first time and provide you with locks and lockers to put your stuff away. You need a towel, mat and water bottle. Bring an extra shirt because get really sweaty. There is also a shower in the bathroom that you can use to take a 5 min shower as the guidelines state.
