The Side Oblique Leg Raise is an exercise that primarily targets the oblique muscles. This exercise is performed lying down with no equipment needed other than a mat. In addition to strengthening the oblique muscles, this movement also works the core and other supporting abdominal muscles.

How do you do a Side Oblique Leg Raise?

  • Step 1

    Begin lying on your side with your legs straight out and stacked on top of each other. Use your bottom arm for support and place your top hand behind your head.

  • Step 2

    On an exhale, lift your top leg up in the air, focusing on your oblique muscles to drive the movement.

  • Step 3

    Crunch your oblique muscles to raise your leg higher and move your head toward your leg. On an inhale, lower back to the starting position.
