Big Toe Pose
What is Big Toe Pose?
Big Toe Pose is a standing forward bend that stretches the entire the back of the body, particularly the hamstrings. This pose provides a deep stretch all the way from the spine to the feet.
How do you do Big Toe Pose?
Stand with your feet parallel and hip-distance apart, arms relaxed at your sides.
Exhale and bend forward from the hip joint, keeping your legs straight. Wrap your index and middle fingers of each hand around the corresponding big toe, and then wrap your thumb around the other two fingers to secure.
On an exhale, fold further forward and aim to draw your forehead toward your shins. Keep your head and spine relaxed and remember to breathe comfortably.
Move your hands underneath the soles of your feet, resting the tops of your hands on the floor. Your toes should sit in the creases of your wrists.

What are the benefits of Big Toe Pose?
Many of us spend our lives focused on the external and spend much of our days busy and stressed.
Forward folds provide us with an opportunity to turn within to develop patience and understanding towards ourselves. When we surrender fully to the pose, we become fully present in the moment and cultivate acceptance of ourselves just as we are without any need to change.
