How it works

About this class

In Hatha Vinyasa, there is emphasis on proper alignment to ensure that the most benefit is derived from the pose and that risk of injury is reduced. Props, including blankets, blocks and straps, are incorporated to achieve proper alignment. Breathing is emphasized to help students experience a mindful practice. Breathing (Pranayama) and meditation techniques may also be taught as a class focus. Hatha Vinyasa is an excellent style for students who appreciate longer holds in individual postures so that they may begin to experience the poses more deeply from the inside. Students who prefer a slower and more meditative approach to practice (while still reaping the benefits of a physical practice) will benefit greatly from Hatha Vinyasa.  The room is heated between 85-90 degrees with some humidity. This class is accessible to all levels.

How to prepare

You will want to wear clothes that you feel comfortable sweating in – pretty much what you would wear to work out or run in, minus the socks and shoes. They recommend bringing a change of clothes to go home nice and dry. You will need a yoga mat, towel, and bottle of water. If you do not have these, they offer a quality Manduka yoga mat rental for $2, Yogi-toes rental for $3, and hand (sweat) towels are available at no cost. You can purchase a bottle of water for $2. They also have Vitamin Water and Gatorade.

Loved the vibe in here. It was a full class, but I had enough room to be comfortable. Teacher was great! Came around the room and corrected posture, and it was a perfect amount of time to get a little sweat on!

Well organized class that prepared us for half moon pose and handstand. Thoughtful and purposeful with a few nuggets of yoga wisdom.
