About this studio

We offer a variety of classes, from Ashtanga to Vinyasa, from Restorative to Yin, and on behalf of Lianne Metcalf and The SomaChi Association, are proud to present the unique SomaChi style. We also provide training in a traditional Martial Art, Silat Perisai Diri. We are open from 6.30am to 8.45pm ( Monday to Thursday), 7am to 6.30 pm ( Friday to Sunday) We are located at Level 1, 281 Smith Street (above Nando’s, close to Woolworths, next to Organic Wholefoods, and almost opposite Friends of the Earth) on the corner of Smith Street and Greeves Street. You will find our entrance via the purple door on Greeves Street – look for the Smith Street Yoga Studio signs!

How to prepare

Please wear comfortable yoga or exercise clothes. Slightly form fitting clothes are advised so that the instructor may provide alignment cues and corrections. Yoga mats can be rented at their studio for $2.00

How to get there

Parking is available on Greeves St and Smith St, during business hours most of these spots are paid, however there is a dearth of free parking in Woolworths and surrounding streets, especially on weekends or after hours. Tram 86 goes right past our front door, utilising either Johnston St or Hodgson St stops, and we are a 10 minute walk from either Collingwood or Victoria Park train stations.

Great class but definitely a little too advanced for me at times. That said the instructor always gave us alternative movements during the more difficult poses.

Loved it. It’s Vinyasa on another level, involving the chi aspect really has me be able to go deeper into my practice without force and I find balances easier as I feel lighter & more buoyant. Lianne brings a full holistic approach of mind body space awareness with a world of knowledge. I walk out feeling not only relaxed & rejuvenated physically but mentally also. Not to be underestimated, this is a very strong class if you want to go there, but Lianne being an experienced teacher brings levels to build on for different levels so no need to feel intimidated either. Overall a great relaxed environment, really fun dynamic class, music taste is another 5 star highlight. LOVE IT!

Zarah was brilliant! Simply the best. Felt like I was in a one on one session despite being in a class, thats how attentive she was with each of us. I felt it the next day and really enjoyed how she challenged me. Too bad shes leaving us but happy travels !

Half vinyasa and half yin yoga, this class was challenging in parts for a beginner like me. But the instructor was welcoming and encouraging, and afterwards I felt a lovely mix of having had a good workout but also feeling very zen and relaxed!

What is ClassPass?
