About this studio

One of the most important yogic texts on record, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, details step by step the process and benefits of yoga. Each sutra is a thread that links to the next, and the next, forming the tapestry of one's personal practice. They believe that yoga is a study that should meet every student at their beginning, whatever that may be, and that there is always a place to learn and grow when you begin at the roots of your practice. It is from this belief that their name sprung, after Sutra 1.1: "Now, the study and practice of yoga begins."

The Slow Down with Laurnie
Class is combination of slow movement and restorative postures. Laurnie’s energy is so pleasant and soothing. Perfect way to wind down the day. So grateful for instructor and this class and for 1.1!

One point one is always a great decision! Like other classes I’ve dropped into here, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the practice is challenging but rewarding.

Sadie’s class was one of the best yoga classes I’ve taken in Pittsburgh. Such a creative sequence!

Fun, thoughtful flow!
The Slow Down with Laurnie
This has been my favorite yoga class Ive taken recently. Its 30 min vinyasa, 30 min restorative, and exactly what I needed this week. Laurnie was awesome, I dont recall what the practice was called, but she included a really neat thing with a tuning fork that felt surprisingly relaxing. I highly recommend her/The Slow Down!
Work It Out with Megan

Excellent
Vinyasa 90 with Alexandra
Loved the way Alexandra set the intention at the beginning of class. Different from your typical sun salutation flow which I loved and appreciated so much! The room is not hot but the intensity of class definitely brings on a good sweat. Music was perfect and soothing also.
