About this studio

Dharma Yoga is a modern interpretation of classical Hatha-Raja yoga rooted in ethical precepts, and that includes elements of Vinyasa, inversions and held poses that become portals to meditation and deep healing relaxation. The method was established in New York City in 1975 by founder and master teacher Sri Dharma Mittra. Each teacher at the Dharma Yoga Center has been taught by Sri Dharma. We have two rooms in our 7 ksqft space. The center has classes for all levels and also specific relaxation and meditation classes that involve no poses.

How to prepare

Bring your mat or rent from the DY Center for $2. Wear comfortable, modest clothing in which to move. Please check the class description as relaxation and meditation do not have active postures, so comfortable clothes are fine.

How to get there

“This is a great place to practice if you are interested in discovering yoga beyond asana- but still keeping touch with the playfulness of an asana practice.” I love this place. Classic Hatha raja yoga taught by Sri Dharma Mittra he is truly a wonderful teacher. The studio is conveniently placed on 23rd st between 5th and 6th ave: Path train, F, M, IRT Broadway - 7th Avenue, IND 8th Avenue, 4,5,6 lines, Q, R,

Dharma II | Advanced Beginner with Joann
this was the first yoga class in years of practice I wanted to leave midway. slowpaced, which is fine, except we went into shoulder stand and other poses, without really being warm. the instructor also mixed up right and left a bunch. maybe food for other people, but I won't be going back

Dharma Yoga is always exactly what I need. One of the best, most authentically connected studios in NYC.
Dharma I | Beginner with Rashila
Rashila lit incense and played music and I liked that. She’s very honest and is willing to help correct peoples form
Dharma I | Beginner with Rashila
Much harder than a beginner class! Was a little crowded and a bit too spiritual for me but learned some good moves.

Very random sequencing. The projector in the room was a little odd. Very poor class design and too many people there to receive proper instruction.

Johanna was amazing. Foundations class was enlightening to say the least Thanks again
