About this studio

A cardio-fitness class that combines choreographed dance routines to create a high-impact, high-intensity workout. The music genres vary and can include rock-n-roll, pop, alternative, hip hop, Latin, jazz and funk in just one class. Dance style and choreography will range from simple fitness moves like turns, grapevines, v-steps or jumps to a quick jazz, Latin or hip hop combination. The large variety of styles, genres and freedoms transform this dance-fitness workout into a total mind-body experience. Wear sneakers with light tread to allow for pivots and turns but aren't slippery. **Beginners are encouraged to attend a Breakdown class before trying a High Cardio class**

How to prepare

Shoes: Sneakers/gym shoes are great; the smoother the sole, the better. Dance sneakers are recommended because they offer enough support for the fitness part of our class. Bare feet are not allowed for Dance Trance for safety reasons.

How to get there

Dance Trance is located inside Balance Gym. The exact address is 1339 Green Court NW. Proceed down an alley accessible via 14th St., Massachusetts Ave. and L St. NW to the brightly colored gym. Dance Trance is located on the third floor.

Love Eileen’s classes. She has so much energy!

This class was really fun and high energy! The instructor Eileen was easy to follow, and even when I didn’t know a dance, her distinct, sharp movements made it easier to follow the choreography. This class is better for people who come regularly, as they teach different dances each week. Some are fine and you catch on, while others are trickier. The hardest thing is that they do a lot of moves that turn to the back, and they don’t have a mirror that allows you to follow along with the instructor! Even with all that in mind, it’s still a lot of fun and had me sweating my butt off - go check it out!

So fun! You do have to be comfortable with not really knowing the steps and jumping in the general direction your first time.

no teaching, just dancing. lots of fun as long as you are aware of that! fun enough for a first timer even though I didn't know the choreography - teacher at front and back of class made it easy to generally follow along

A great work out but it’s hard to follow new choreography which is 75% of the class. I think only worth attending if you regularly go to class to learn all of the routines
