How to prepare

Classes at AstaYoga follow a general routine that is vigorous- the more often you practice, the more familiar you will become with the flow. Our Basics classes offer more detailed instruction to get started, but a beginner's attitude is helpful and welcome in every class. The classes are heated to no more than 80 degrees. You will be trained in breathing techniques that stimulate the generation of organic sweat- the sweat you earn. We offer mats for rent ($2) and complimentary towels. Please arrive to class at least 5 minutes early.

Ashtanga Primer: Level 1 with Rene
Rene was an excellent instructor. I felt like I could really learn and improve in such a small class.
Ashtanga Primer: Level 1 with Rene
really good intro class
Ashtanga Primer: Level 1 with Rene
Most beginner classes I’ve been to don’t actually take the time to talk about the correct posture and how to better achieve them - this class was actually helpful and I’ll definitely be coming back!
Ashtanga Primer: Level 1 with Rene
Very weird vibes, from the moment we walked in. Granted it was a very nice studio, but the check in person and the instructor seemed super tense and on the condescending spectrum than the friendly and happy vibes that one would hope (and expect) from a boutique yoga studio. No Zen here at all. I'd rather go to Love Story yoga next time, it's only a block away.
Response from the studio:
Zen is a very different practice from yoga, and if you're looking for Zen, we recommend the San Francisco Zen Center. Sorry for your confusion. If you're just a troll, this is hardly the venue for promoting other businesses with which you are affiliated and is in violation of the community guidelines. Release your expectations! It's a big part of the practice.
