How to prepare

Classes at AstaYoga follow a general routine that is vigorous- the more often you practice, the more familiar you will become with the flow. Our Basics classes offer more detailed instruction to get started, but a beginner's attitude is helpful and welcome in every class. The classes are heated to no more than 80 degrees. You will be trained in breathing techniques that stimulate the generation of organic sweat- the sweat you earn. We offer mats for rent ($2) and complimentary towels. Please arrive to class at least 5 minutes early.

Rocket Vinyasa: All Levels with Tara
More for advanced not intermediate and definitely not beginners. I consider myself an intermediate and it was difficult to keep track of what was going on. It felt like more like a workout and a competition rather than flowing with the yoga postures. Place is nice but I didnt like the fact that the room is carpeted. The instructor gave me some corrections which was good.
Rocket Vinyasa: All Levels with Kristina
Loved this class. Kristina was light-hearted and helpful, hands-on, offered explanations and alternative options. Good pace and good workout.
Rocket Vinyasa: All Levels with Kristina
Overall good class! Not for beginners.
Response from the studio:
Not *exclusively* for beginners, to be precise. Thank you for your feedback!
Rocket Vinyasa: All Levels with Kristina
Kinda Cliquish
Response from the studio:
Join the club!
Rocket Vinyasa: All Levels with Mila
There was a loud party above the class and you could hear people talking, and walking, and moving furniture the entire time. Also, the instructor was not playing any music, so you could hear everything that was happening upstairs the entire class.
Response from the studio:
We appreciate your feedback and are sorry you had a less than excellent experience, and we will pass your 2 stars on to our upstairs neighbors who worked very hard for that rating. Based on the reasons you gave, we trust that an assessment of our studio under ordinary circumstances would be more favorable for us and more enjoyable for you, and we encourage you to try again.
Rocket Vinyasa: All Levels with Tristan
Quickly becoming my favorite studio.
Response from the studio:
Right on!
Kundalini with Ting
Great teacher! Powerful experience
Response from the studio:
The Kundalini is strong in this one.
Yin with Shaina
This yin class was good but not my favorite yin. The class was difficult to follow and we didnt hold some poses long enough to see what we were supposed to be doing. Great slower paced class though and we did some solid hip openers.
Rocket Vinyasa: All Levels with Tara
Not an all levels class too many new poses, no modifications given, and most of the attendees were very advanced.
Kundalini with Ting
This class reminded me of the movie Wanderlust with Paul Rudd, minus the comedy. I cringed every time the teacher said words like cosmic fairy dust, cosmos, and mystical truth. There was awkward devotional chanting, way too much fire breathing, weird western variations of traditional yoga poses, and little physical challenge. Not for me.
Response from the studio:
"Kundalini" signifies that this class will contain devotional chanting, fire breathing and fairy dust. And though the class lacked comedy, your review certainly brought it. We thank you, and we're sure Paul Rudd is also grateful for the shout-out. Please be sure to try out any of our other vinyasa classes- we only have kundalini once a week- and you will find the physical challenge you seek.
