About this class

This mixed level Pilates mat class focuses on strength, precision, and flow of movement. In this small class setting the teacher will present the exercises at multiple levels which allows students to choose to work at a beginning, intermediate, or advanced pace. Students will learn to be aware of breathing patterns and spinal alignment while engaging the deep muscles of the core. Focus is on establishing the bio-mechanical foundations to work safely and effectively within the technique to create uniform development of the body, core strength and breath control. If you learn the Pilates mat exercises correctly, you will always have a powerful and effective way to get in shape and enjoy the benefits of Pilates.

Pilates Mat with Marilyn
It’s a fun atmosphere and you get quality instruction but I did not get an intense or even moderate workout. I would describe this class as beginners level and more toward restoring and stretching than breaking a sweat.
Response from the studio:
Don't confuse sensation (how hard an exercise feels) with effectiveness. The best athletes are not the strongest but are the ones who have the most optimal and efficient movement patterns. We will help you create your most optimal and efficient posture, breathing, and core stabilization strategy. Proper form is much more important for success when training for general fitness to sports events and/or competitions. When the body recognizes instability it will create more restrictions and tightness to guard against a movement. Therefore, it is the quality of training which influences your progress, more than the quantity or difficulty.

Great class! Everything about the studio was welcoming, from the instructor to the other students. Marilyn makes sure to explain the exercises so you are getting the proper form and understanding each exercise.
Pilates Mat with Jessica
This studio is wonderful! I really enjoyed the class and the people - I was able to work my core through a lot of laughter and Jessica is such a great instructor. The owner Marilyn was also a real joy! She came over to help me achieve a side plank without crunching my shoulders which was a first! Both her and Jessica are very knowledgeable and I really appreciated how well they were able to articulate how the body works. It was all around very fulfilling and they genuinely care to help you with your specific struggles. Ill be back for sure!
