About this class

Restorative Yoga is therapeutic. The class offers four to six floor poses held passively for ten minutes or more. Practitioners support themselves with props such as bolsters, blankets and blocks. The added support allows the student to completely relax and surrender to the pose. When you are in a state of relaxation there is no movement or effort, so the mind becomes still. The relaxation response brings the body into balance. It deepens the breath, reducing stress hormones. It slows the heart rate, lowering blood pressure. Muscles relax, relieving fatigue and anxiety. The class is appropriate for all levels and ages. If you must be gentle to your joints, this class is for you. If you need to slow down and reduce your stress level, this class is for you. If you would like to quiet your mind and take time for yourself, this class is for you. If you have never practiced yoga, this class is for you.

How to prepare

We rent mats for $1.00 if you do not have one. Please bring a water bottle and towel. Off street parking is available daily. All parking is clearly metered with pay station access. On weekends before 10 AM and after 6 PM all surrounding public parking is free and on Sundays all parking is free. We do not recommend parking in any lots clearly marked private parking.

How to get there

From highway 101 north or south: Exit Whipple Ave. Take Whipple Ave west to El Camino Real (Highway 82). Turn left on to El Camino and go a few blocks to Broadway. Turn left on Broadway and Peacebank will be on your left before the railroad tracks. For your safety we do not allow anyone to enter class beyond 10 minutes after the doors have closed and class has begun.

I have taken so many restorative classes before and this was the best! Everyone was so friendly and accommodating, from the staff at the front desk to the instructor and even the attendees were very nice( I guess it speaks a lot about the class) loved it

The class was very slow paced. It consisted of a brief meditation and 3 poses total for the entire class (held for long periods of time). I struggled setting up the poses with props and getting comfortable. The instructor does come around and help, but it can take a while for her to get to you. There is no background info on why you are doing the poses and any benefits so I felt a bit odd lying down in different angles using props without knowing why. The class is otherwise popular and was well attended so it seems like others really enjoy it.
