About this class

This is a fun class using hip hop styling to burn calories and break a sweat. This class is a mix of initial warm-up with cardio and stretching (about 10 min), then we learn a hip-hop dance routine (about 35 min), and then a quick cool down (about 5 min). The class is definitely dance focused as the dance portion is the majority of the class. The dance routines are sometimes complex, however the instructor does a great job of teaching the moves step by step with counts and then we add in music. It doesn’t matter if you get every step right as long as you are having fun and burning calories! The instructor is great and she chooses really fun music for the dance routines. Her routines are all very current and fresh. She usually teaches the same routine for 2 weeks. We learn half during the first week, then we add on the next week. If someone pops in on week 2, then the class may not seem okay for beginners because she re-teaches the part we already learned in week 1, just quicker. Overall, she teaches at a beginners pace. Many people who take the class have no hip-hop experience prior to this class and can catch on! It is a really fun class and you definitely work up a sweat! Prerequisites:  None

This was not a workout, i didnt break a sweat. I really enjoy Dance and have done it before. If you have never danced and want to learn this is great, but the description did not say-learn how to dance. We also spent 30 minutes talking and not dancing.

I usually only leave positive reviews, but this class was terrible. The instructor offered about 45 minutes of instruction for what was billed as a 60 minute class, and only about 15 minutes of that involved hip hop dance (the rest included run of the mill yoga poses and calisthenics). I'd come back to the studio, which is a very cool space, for another class, but this particular class was a huge waste of time.

Students must bring a towel or yoga mat for floor barre. Tennis shoes are okay for Doonya Please wear clothes that are comfortable to move in and bring a water bottle
