Alonzo King Lines Dance Center offers dance technique classes from Ballet to Modern to Jazz, Afro-Brazilian, Cuban Modern and Pilates and Dance Workout classes.

How to get there

The LINES Dance Center is located at Seventh & Market in the historic Odd Fellows building. It is less than a block from the Civic Center/UN Plaza BART and MUNI station and the many Market Street bus lines. Bikes You and your bike are welcome at the Dance Center. You can safely lock up your bike at our 4th floor bike racks. Pilates for Dancers with Christina
This class is a bit slower but it works your core incredibly well and focuses on breathing and strength. Christina is very knowledgeable about the body and provides individualized corrections to everyone in the class. Especially great for dancers but would recommend for anyone wanting to be more in touch with their bodies.

Fantastic instruction about the diaphragm, including exercises to learn to use it deliberately, followed by a great Pilates floor workout. The instructor was very warm, enthusiastic, and attentive. Billed as "for dancers", but I am a complete non-dancer and non-Pilates person, and this was a non-issue. As others have noted, this studio is in a very high crime part of town, although the building itself does have solid security.

More of a body awareness class than a workout. Instructor chooses a part of your body to explore for the day. Extremely informative, as we were exploring an upper back bone. Studio is huge, but location can make ladies who walk by themselves a little wary.
