About this class

This class is composed of a gentle yoga practice, including some basic poses (asanas), breathwork (pranayama) and a guided meditation. Experienced yogis or beginners are welcome. The yoga asanas will be focused on gently stretching and opening the body. Pranayama is a Sanskrit word meaning "extension of the pran or breath" or, "extension of the life force". The word is composed of two Sanskrit words, Prana, life force, or vital energy, particularly, the breath and "ayam," to extend or draw out. This type of breathwork balances the right and left sides of the brain, induces a parasympathetic dominance in the nervous system, and relieves tension by lowering the blood pressure, slowing the heart and calming the mind. The guided meditation will further deepen and imprint the effects of the active asanas and pranayama, while leading you on an inner journey that will inspire and rejuvenate.

How to prepare

Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in. Bring a yoga mat if you have one (we rent mats in Oak Park for $2) and a water bottle if you need one. Yoga is done in bare feet, but you can wear socks if you'd like.

How to get there

There is street parking out front or around the corner. You can park in the stalls across the street daily after 4pm. There's a bike rack out in front.
