    Starter50: Intro To [solidcore]

I LOVED Jennifer! Even though the class was hard (I’ve always done Pilates on my own and hadn’t had experience on the carriage), I never felt out of my element and Jennifer made sure of that. She pushes you, but in just the right way. If you’ve never done a class like this, the coach will yell out countdowns that may or may not apply to you, so that can be confusing at first and you may feel a little overwhelmed. The movements are completely at your own speed. The description is true to its word: low impact and high intensity—meaning that the moves are slow but the exercise itself is pretty difficult. If you’ve never taken a class before, I definitely recommend doing at least one intro class. They do have ear plugs, hair ties, and bobby pins up front. There are also lockers in the back. Make sure you read the info on their page before attending because there is a passcode to get in. There is street parking, but the most convenient place to park is the parking garage across the street. Paying for parking is a downside, but that’s not something the business can control. The music is turned down a bit for intro classes but is still fairly loud, so if that’s not your jam, this studio may not be for you. Although the loud music isn’t my favorite, the people were so nice and non-judgmental that I will absolutely be back. Jennifer even made sure to check in on me at the end of class and got to know me a little bit. That meant so much! I didn’t feel bad for taking a quick break to get water or rest, and I felt like the coach understood that I knew my body best and didn’t shame me for taking a quick breather. Yes it’s hard, and even though I felt like I wasn’t very good at it, I’ll definitely return for more classes simply for the feeling of community that was extended by everybody at solidcore! Maddie at the front desk couldn’t have been any nicer :)

Had a sub this week. Class is always a great time but it can be a little difficult for beginners. It seems that it’s designed for regulars who attend each week and become familiar with the tracks/routines, but this can be tricky if you only pop in from time to time. The regular instructor will go over some dances beforehand which can be really helpful, but I also wish they would cue more regularly (like a typical dance cardio class) throughout the dances. Overall a good time and good workout. Wish the rest of the class would clap/cheer after a dance - can be kind of awkward how everyone stands around in silence after a super high energy song!
