see all reviewsI’ve been to Unplug many times but this was the first time I’ve taken a breathwork class there. It was pretty intense - the quick breathing essentially makes you hyperventilate and can bring up a lot of emotions. I’m not a very emotional person but it still did for me. It’s also pretty loud in the room with everyone getting really into their breathing. As it was happening I wasn’t sure how I felt about it all but by the end I did feel like I had an emotional release (like how you feel after a good cry, which I don’t do very often). Honestly felt better than I usually do after a therapy session. Now that I’ve had this experience I feel like I’d like to try coming weekly.

see all reviewsI HIGHLY recommend tropical refuge! The interior is cozy and adorably decorated. None of the classes are heated, which has been very hard to find on class pass. The building is small and easy to miss, but they leave a signage out so I had no problem finding it. It’s in a popular part of Manhattan beach so there’s plenty of things to do after. The only problem is the parking- it’s mainly street (metered) parking so if you come on a weekend, try to arrive early.

The sauna itself was fine, clean, but no colored light therapy inside. Just a small white light bulb for reading, like on an airplane. There’s bluetooth but my phone wasn’t able to connect or find the network. I liked the space itself, it had a calming peaceful vibe.
