FOCUS - Slow & Strong Flow

Cool class, using the blanket as a prop. My favorite part was pairing up with our neighbor for a partner-exercise with the block. That was really cool. More of that please! :) lovely set up. Good vibe. Thank you much!

    Vinyasa Level 2

Instructor was Andre and he is consistently good. His instructions are clear he speaks well and I like that he walks around the class to keep an eye on the students postures. It’s a perfect space with plenty of windows so it’s nice and bright. Lots of street parking which I don’t use since I walk but that is usually something that I look for. They have blocks, blankets, weights, straps and other stuff to assist you in your practice. I would definitely recommend Yoga On C!

Reba’s energy and overall vibe was so amazing. The class was nourishing for the soul. I am so bad at meditating so having a full hour of mindfulness was so lovely. I can’t wait to go back.

    Vinyasa

I'm rating this class at five, because I want the studio to succeed, but for me, there were a couple things that detracted from my. I believe the instructor was Toni, although she did not introduce herself. I appreciated her friendliness and desire to create an enjoyable experience for everyone. she made a point to know each students name and refer to them by name during the class, it feels personalized and skillful. the sequencing and pace were good, I would enjoy attending this class again except for a few detractors. The main one, is that constantly being referred to as "y'all, and yogis" became really distracted and felt performative. sometimes it was as often as every few seconds. Personally, when I go to any particular yoga teacher, it's not just for the class because I could do that at home or online. If I drive to sit in an in person class (and I did drive, I don't live in the neighborhood), it's because being in the presence of that teacher, will help me deepen my practice, drop in a little more deeply and feel less distracted. traditionally, yoga teachers took the time to develop that presence and personal wisdom, through long apprenticeships and assisting before having a class of their own. that's not a cultural standard here… Nor is yoga expected to be a spiritual practice, but at the very least, for me to want to attend a class, I need to feel that the Instructor is grounded, comfortable in their own skin, and ready to tap into the gentle wisdom that has inherent so they're being. I have no doubt that Toni has this, but instead, her teaching style really did feel like a performance, and it frequently pulled me out of being able to drop into a more settled and slowed down internal experience. My final suggestion: there were a couple of times and which right or left was not specified, and because they were atypical poses, it was slightly confusing. Example: "bend your right knee and reach for the foot with your hand" (which hand?). Same with a twist At the end. She specified which leg to cross, and then said turn to your side, but not which side. Most of the time, right and left were provided and very specific, but the times that they weren't, required me to look up from awkward positions, or just guess and hope that I had it right! I'm taking the time to share this because I would like to see this studio and this teacher grow into themselves. I recognize that it's business has its own brand, and if the bubbly, trendy vocabulary and communication is truly her brand, but I hope it attracts the people who don't find it distracting. I felt more like a persona, and I would love to see Toni tap into a bit of a quiet power. The kind that you know is there, without anyone having to tell you. It comes with experience in confidence, but you need both to truly stand out as an exceptional yoga teacher. Also, the studio could use greenery. That's one of my favorite differences between attending yoga at the Y for free, va going to a studio. Thoughtful and thriving plants would help but feel more alive!

    Journey Into Power

Really really loved the instructor Michelle. With this studio they don’t have mirrors which is interesting and different. It is a heated class which adds a level of intensity. The studio itself is really cute but the location not so much. It’s downtown so lots of homeless folks to deal with on the way there. They do validate parking and there’s a parking garage right by the studio so that’s nice. Would recommend to try out one time!
